... all touching the handrails, all standing in queues, etc, etc. They're filthy infested metal boxes not even disinfected after each run. The NBRU man on the wireless yesterday said average occupancy is 19 pax.
If it doesn't have a roof sign and door stickers it's not a taxi.

That seems like a lot.Maybe the trains are bringing up th average. All the buses I've seen have been relatively empty.

I've noticed the bus Eireann ones can have only one passenger leaving town heading for Cavan.More subsidies on the way for them lads.

He was talking about buses. He did say he wants CIE to disinfect buses every day though... I woulda thought they'd be doing that already but still no comparison to a taxi with a maximum of 4 pax being disinfected once or twice a month, I guess.

My neighbour drives a bus and reckons the only passengers moving are junkies going to dealing  hotspots.
At each terminus they have of those cleaning things that completely sanitizes the vehicle for the next leg.

Not sure.. there was a woman on with Joe Duffy (wash your hands) yesterday who said she felt she had to be there and had to take a taxi to get there... I think she was accommodated in some way by the hospital workers... there was another woman after that who couldn't get there and was completely distraught.... and possibly another similar after that.

Fair play to the taxi driver who got Liveline (wash your hands) Woman #1 where she wanted/needed to be.

Because of your insistince on wanting to risk spreading the virus, I, and others like me are delayed in going back to work safely
I'm Not insisting on spreading the virus as you say DM, I am classified as an essential worker, granted not all of my work is Medical but a good share of it is and the FN discount is Not 50% to drivers as the 15% commission is waved on Medical jobs, so it is 35% which on short jobs which nearly all are it costs the driver about 1 Euro.

Ken how can you even try justify doing these jobs?
Imo anybody doing these bring the hero to work jobs for half price deserves to catch the corona pox and die roaring, just like the taxi business is with free now
Are you observing the 2km rule El Tonio while out Fishing ?
I doubt it ! Don't be Preaching to me !!

Here lies Ken
A true hero he helped to spread the coronavirus. He was so brave, he even worked for fukkall , while the people who detailed him to do so, hid in the bunkers in Mount street. God bless Ken , and his cab and all that sail in it. Proudly posted by his number 1 supporter Mr rat
I did not know that is how you looked upon me DM,
But you are entitled to your opinion as much as I am,
and I hope we can part as Friends.

If your takings are reduced you're entitled to claim it and work.

https://www.gov.ie/en/publication/68c144-what-to-do-if-you-are-self-employed-covid-19/

What to do if you are self-employed (COVID-19)

Published: 3 April 2020
From: Department of Employment Affairs and Social Protection
If you pay yourself as a PAYE worker through your payroll then you can apply for the Temporary COVID-19 Wage Subsidy Scheme from the Revenue Commissioners.

If you don’t pay yourself as a PAYE worker then you should claim the emergency COVID-19 Pandemic Unemployment Payment at MyWelfare.ie.

You may, if your trading income has collapsed to the extent that you are available to take up other full-time employment if it was offered to you, receive a payment of €350 per week for so long as you are available to take up other work. This is equal to the standard jobseeker rate for a two adult household.

There seems to be some disagreement here. I was so intreagued at the possibility that you could work, and claim at the same time , that I actually rang the department of employment affairs. It took me quite a while to get through to their info section, but I asked an info officer about it , and he said there is absolutely no way you can claim the covid pandemic payment, and work at the same time  he said there is a scheme  whereby people can work 20 hours per week, and receive some welfare payment, but he was quite adament it does not apply to anyone receiving the covid payment . So my advice is watch out if you are

He's wrong. It's there in black and white as published by the Dept. He's also wrong about the 20 hours as far as self-employed is concerned, there is no restriction on self-employed hours if you qualify for Jobseekers Allowance. Ring back and ask to speak to someone who knows what they're talking about.

Funny as it may seem... while I was looking for the quotes of you doing exactly what you criticised Vinny for doing - and posting remarkably similar figures to Vinny's - I came across another interesting contribution you made while you were working during COVID '19... surely a 35% reduction in takings equates to a collapse?

Report on the news last night, that the taxi industry has been hardest hit by the virus. According to the report, drivers are down on average 35% in their takings I would have to say, that accuractuly reflected my performance last night, I don't know about the rest of you
