NTA --Support ?
« on: June 07, 2020, 10:08:37 am »
Commercial Bus Sector & Small Public Service Vehicle sector

The NTA is aware that both the commercial bus and small public service vehicle sector have like all businesses been very severely impacted during this crisis. The government has put in place a number of supports for all business and the NTA is continuing to work with these sectors and other stakeholders to do all within our powers to support them.

Sent them a mail requesting the list of supports --has anybody any idea what they are--?

The PUP is a Welfare measure !

Yes you can get 350 for staying at home .They extended your NCT .They offered a return your daisies and decouple from the app service in line with regulatory requirements .They wont offer any money as we are INDEPENDENT self employed persons and any subsidy would be illegal .They actually turned a blindone .If you read the Regulations it clearly states all branding with the Word Taxi or Tacsai must be removed from a vehicle that is not licenced or insured as a taxi .They did not demand we remove the door branding even though it was required by legislation .Im sure if some concerned driver had of contacted them to enquire why this was they would of rectified the situation and told us to remove decals .You also have the option to leave the industry and apply for Dole .

I sent them two emails regarding the now S.I No 175 of 2020.....that gives licence holders(less than 800) who's cars will reach 10 yrs between now and Dec 31st an extra year while licence holders who will be in the same position from Jan 1st 2021 can sling their hooks,i could argue that anyone that was due to change their car should have had the funds in place to do so whereas my savings have had to be put on hold indefinitely and will severely impact me changing my car next Feb,i would also argue that ALL licence holders should have been afforded this support,
I had the usual vague reply on Fri(from a mail i sent on May 22nd) saying the measure wouldn't be extended....i will speak to my solicitor about it,why do the NTA believe that only those licence holders will be affected by Covid-19,just because business's are slowly beginning to open up doesn't mean that the economy will bounce back immediately.

I was wondering would the fact that we're taking the government money affect any loan applications drivers might have for a replacement car.

The fact that we're needing government support is a red flag on it's own that our industry is in trouble.

It's certainly affecting those who have had their mortgage approval withdrawn as a result of receiving it (or the wage subsidy)

There was something on the journal I think.. where a couple were denied finance after loan approval because one of their employers availed of the government wage top-up scheme.

I suppose by taking the money yer saying yer business is already in trouble.

I saw that article re the mortgage, they've already paid 30k of their own money and contracts signed....i thought the wage subsidy scheme kept those employees on a full wage anyway....unlike us self un employed 350 merchants,
As MFH said to me in a stern message....get a grip and prepare to change your car!!...i'll just have to get a 6y/o as opposed to the 4y/o jammer i was gonna get.

Stern!....It's still early days the NTA might give some ground on the age rules or they may see them as a chance to get rid of a few lads.

Some of us could be off the road for 6 months of 2020.They can't just ignore that.
