The Penny is Dropping .Ian O Doherty in this mornings Indo ....We need a new government and a new Taoiseach by next Saturday or this country is screwed.
There are probably more delicate ways of phrasing it, but the reality which faces us isn't delicate - it's extremely grave.
Apart from the party political impasse which could not have come at a worse time - and more of that anon - the simple fact is that we need a constitutionally compliant government, involving both the Dáil and Seanad, to renew critical legislation which is due to expire on June 30.
As I said If the Cabbages vote No then the only Option is Leo is re elected by the Dail on the Understanding that he only Nominates his 11 senators (teachocs nominees) then offers the Dail the chance to renew the offences against the state act ,Dail passes that then it goes to the Senate they pass it .Then Leo goes to the Park and we have another General Election .Under Paddy Power T&C s that would mean the next government is a FG minority Government .50/1 has to be worth a tenner if you think the Greens will vote no .
