Cheap rentals are back.
« on: July 17, 2020, 01:42:57 pm »
It's been about ten years since I've seen rentals this cheap.€100 a week for a Prius is a good deal if you can find any work.

Might be handy for some owner-drivers who don't wanna reinvest in the current climate.

It looks like he just filled in the blanks Octy but it's a rental ad so who knows. All them Jap imports have low mileage coming in.From the looks of it he has multiple rentals..Probably costing a fair bit to park them all up and needs some cash ASAP.

Some renters in the sheikh community have halved the prices of rentals for current drivers and added a €20 surcharge when the pubs / restaurants opened up and won’t be charging full rent until the nightclubs are opened back up.

They are going to be stuck with a few, lads won't pay big insurance if there's no work.

Some will have no option other than to work even at extortionate operating costs be renter or owner operator, there’s a lot of fresh metal out there that needs paying for, I wouldn’t call any lad who heavily invested in a car foolish as this covid shite is a black swan event.

Getting old is compulsory whilst growing up is voluntary.

Don't be such a defeatist octy. We're all in the same boat, sick of sitting around,  unsure what kind of work environment we'll be going back to.  I'm trying to be optimistic.  The way im looking at it is that because of social distancing the pubs and restaurants won't let as many people in on the weekends so we may very well find that all those potential fares are now spread out over the whole week as opposed to a Friday and Saturday night. Perhaps the rush from 2.30am will be a thing of the past too so instead of thousands of fares all looking to go at the same time it'll now be spread out over the whole evening.  Coupled on top of that is the fact that a lot of drivers wont bother returning at all so hopefully less taxis. I'm definitely getting a screen, not because I think they stop the virus but because fn will give you fcuk all work without one. If I go back with my screen and I find im not getting my wages well then I dont think I'll have a choice and that I'll have to turn into one of Ken's mates or an ambassador.  After all the abuse I gave ken about it he may very well have the last laugh but at the end of the day I've mouths to feed and bills to pay so that takes priority over everything.  As I said hang in there, don't throw the towel in just yet. I really don't think its going to be as bad as we think it is.
