Only problem with that fluence is that there is no county sticker on the roof sign  :o

I was thinking about that scheme.12D WAVs for 500 a month for 20 months,then it's yours.
Seeing as he's flogging off 12D vehicles, they aren't eligible for putting your own plate on it,so you're stuck with him after the purchase period where he has you over a barrel about renting his plate.
Also, the vehicle has to be in the plate holders name ,so how do you 'own' it?

Back 9/10 years ago Ebbs had similar deals for saloon cars.Chap I know got an Avensis but when the vehicle got to end of life he just dropped out of the business. The avensis  got dumped in his front garden as it was almost worthless.

VD there are much younger vans up with lower mileage getting sold.Anyone know if we are eligible for those government guaranteed COVID business loads?

If I was buying today I'd be looking at this one.Young enough to get your own plate too.Possibly a grant of the NTA.

So it's 8 yrs old now and in 20 months it'll be 10yrs old....at a cost of €9,200...and no doubt you'll be required to rent a radio on top of that...and still never own that plate....am i missing something?

You might not have to take the radio Hal.It's still a shite deal.Even though it can be licenced until 2027.

Here's the loan scheme VD you probably knew about it already.

On paper you’d be renting the car for the princely sum of €0, however you’d have to rent the plate off him.

It would suit some lads, however I have a wanked out french panel van on the road for €8319.79, ebbs would be renting you a plate he paid €150 for, how Irish. Factor in you have to be named on his policy too insurance would be more expensive too. €500 per month over 20 months €10k large for van that’s already been prostituted out.

Would suit some people, I think it’s lunacy myself.

Depends what a drivers situation is....

I was sceptical about it but still made the enquiry.

On the road in a manner of days for upfront payment of approx €425 (First weeks rent and Insurance deposit)

The insurance isn't the lynk fleet policy. The policy is in the plate owners name with driver named but building their own taxi no claims bonus.

You are free to get insurance arranged anywhere that will cover you. I got quotes from Brian J Pierce (€5k) and Zego (little over €2k).

Zego put a telematic device in but that doesnt bother me cos I am getting on and don't driver erractically.

Important thing is The taxi no claims is being rebuilt. (I left the game to go back to college and when I came back I had lost my taxi no claims)

Yea Lynk are probably doubling their money on the value of the car but it works for me. Now paying €175 a week instead of €350 rent to the same company.

In twenty months I will only have insurance payment on a wheely that hopefully have around 250k miles clocked up (150k today).

Once back at work I can apply for the €1000k grant.

The difference of €175 in the rent and buy to rent will take some pressure off until things pick up next year and hopefully be able to save a few bob towards a trade in in 2022 or 2023. Paying €350 a week rent plus fuel never allowed me to save.

So if it is looked as buying an overpriced car maybe not it is not a good idea. Wouldn't intend keeping it for anymore than a year after I own it because hopefully I will have worked the arse out of it by then.

If it is looked at as a easy and cheap way back to work and at half the expenses that I had a few months ago then maybe not such a bad idea.

Like I said depends on each drivers situation.

Thanks for the insight u wha, I’m looking at it in the eyes of a owner operator not a renter paying extortionate rental prices. All the best with it

There can be some horrendously large bills between 150k miles and 250k miles.
Still,if you can save on this deal, you might be able to cover them .
What's the plate rental after the 20 months?

That's the way it was done in the good old days. If you read the small print you'll probably find that the policy holder i.e. plate owner is excluded from driving. In any event the NCD is yours, the plate owner being the policy holder is only "on paper" to satisfy (or circumvent, if you prefer) legal requirements (re)introduced by that mean and nasty lady, Kathleen Doyle - to give the impression of satisfying the whims of the then trade unions... obviously armed with the knowledge that the bosses of said trade unions would struggle to appreciate any interpretation beyond what they wanted to read.
If it doesn't have a roof sign and door stickers it's not a taxi.
