Without a screen .I cannot understand why any driver would install something that is not mandatory, and potentially causing themselves
MORE problems

You don't understand drivers not wanting to get Covid?

It's similar to using Free now or a dispatcher because you need to earn a living.

Took the screen out for the test, meant to ask what the story was but forgot in the excitement of passing ... sorry
its those same dispatchers you yalk about who brought this screen crap in.not because they were concerned fpr ypur welfare, but because they wanted to promote their own companies at your expense.
there is not one dispatcher out there that's making it mandatory for drivers to get screens. They are making them available for a knock down price if you want one. If you don't want to spend €50 on a screen to give you a little bit of protection at your age, not to mention all your health problems, that's your problem. If you had a screen it would get you a bit of extra work to keep up with all the expenses that comes with running a taxi..
Now that we're in the middle of a global pandemic, if someone does one of those out-of-the-blue uncontrollable sneezes behind me, (I did one at home today myself. Everyone does them) I'd prefer to look in the rear view and see the snot running down the screen than feel the wet on the back of my neck. We could drill down into the micro detail about airborne particles etc, but I'm happy enough to have one.

I got my first screen long before any of the dispatchers began promoting them, for my own safety, I then bought the FN one because it was good value and better
Will you not consider your own safety and stop being so belligerent

Nothing to do with belligerence toao, the fact is I work a very limited number of hours a week, and I want to incur as little expense as possible.at the moment im grossing roughly about 200 euro a week for my approx 12/14 hours a week.this does not even justify the cost of staying in the industry.but I like to go out occasionally more for a breath of fresh air then anything else.its handy to go out to howth of an evening, and sometimes get a fare or two on the way

Ifn you wore a younger man's clothes you could claim PUP at that rate.
If it doesn't have a roof sign and door stickers it's not a taxi.

Just to add to the sum of human knowledge...

Did the NCT today.  Took the FN screen out but asked the guy about it afterwards.  He said it was none of his business.  They don't look at them, don't test them, nada.

So do you have to put the full taxi insurance back on the car just for the LRA?

Well, I got through on the first ring and have the suitability booked for 04/09/2020.

I plan on removing the screen simply because the dog likes to perch on the centre console on long journeys.
We're heading off for a "Galwaycation". 8)
