Do any of you remember an irish Ballad / folk group from the 60s called emmet spiceland.it was mainly made up of 2 brothers called Byrne, and Donal Lunney was also part of it.they were one of my favourite groups of the time, and still are.

One Sunday leaving the Dandalion Market met Rod Stewart and Brit Eckland on Grafton Street .He was over here to watch the Scotland V England Home international football match on telly as he was a tax exile from the UK .While he was here he filmed the video for Sailing .

My best one was working the 4 Seasons talking to some old guy outside .He says Lovely Air in this City I grunt Yeh then he says I was walking down by the river today a clean river for a Capital City .I say it wasent when I was a Kid it was an Open Sewer The shit use to flow into it at Heuston and if it was Dry for a few days and the River didnt flow the Shit would harden on top and we would throw stones and bottles at the hard shit to break it and it would stink of shit like a million stink bombs .Two lads come out of the Hotel to the Residence .One says yer man is a cool dude .Who sais I .Fella says thats Leonard Cohen he was about a million years old I have the Best of album but the photo was taken about 50 years ago .Think Dublin is one of the Few Cities where if you see somebody famous you nod at them and leave them alone.

I read the article its very interesting.it mentions Anne Byrne.I remember Anne, she was part of another old favourite group of mine called the Ludlows .Coola do you remember the Ludlows ?  a fella I used to worked for called Mick Crotty played with them also.mick went on to play with the Dublin city ramblers ,and he introduced me to Patsy watchorn ,and Sean mc guinness ,( who is STILL with the ramblers) Patsy is retired now and living in Carlow,Mick became an art teacher and Sean is still playing music
