43 years ago, I was driving from Kilcoole to Dublin, withh my sister on dark January evening. Suddenly as if from nowhere there was an oldish man in front of my offside front headlight. He was collected up on to the bonnet, I slowed, trying to keep him there, but he fell onto the road. He was naked from the waist down, and his trousers were around his ankles. No mobile phones back then, so I left my sister with the man, and drove to Greystones Garda Station which, at that time, was closed at night. I got the sergeant, who lived overhead, out to the scene of the accident. When we got back there was quite a crowd there including some of the man's family. Very surprisingly the man's adult son came over to me and said " don't worry about this, I don't know what he was doing here". I was never contacted significantly again by the gardai, but I did hear that the man died, that he had a drink problem, and that my insurance had paid out £25k. I can't recall if there was a significant effect on my insurance premium.
