A bit of a milestone today. It's been 365 days since my last fare!
This time last year, the virus had been circulating in Ireland for about 2 weeks and I knew a lockdown was coming. I'd already decided to make 16th March my last day before the lockdown because there was no way I was working on Paddy's Day with upto 1M people infecting each other in Dublin city centre. My last fare was 9.30am on the 16th and I just 'knew' that was my one and only fare for the day. So I drove around for an hour until the off-licences opened. Been doing pretty much the same thing every since
I thought it would only be a short lockdown because people usually don't want to die and they'd stay home for a couple of weeks and we'd be back to normal in 2 or 3 weeks. Little did I know we'd still be here a year on. Google Maps sends me a monthly update on mileage driven and any highlights of places I've visited. Last month, my 'highlight' was Powercity. I bought a kettle!
We've all heard of evolution but I think I'm devolving

I was never much of a TV person but now I can watch TV for 9 hours each day without moving an inch. If this lockdown goes on any longer, they're gonna have to crane me out of the house...
When do you think it'll end? Mehole says he's gonna think about it in April, Vlad says no chance before end of May, and Pascal says he'll review the PUP etc in June. They're hoping/praying to get 80% of the population a first jab by Sept (kinda herd immunity) but I very much doubt that's gonna happen. I think we're gonna have to wait until the virus mutates itself out of existance?
