The bleedin' councils are pedestrianising streets all over the place to stimulate business and create work. They paid scant attention to taxi drivers (yourself included), self-appointed taxi drivers' representatives and taxi company bosses all telling them how unsuited taxis are to the new normal. Plenty of talk and talk about talk but no action. Shane Ross promised rickshaw regulation, the current Govt has promised eScooter regulation, successive Govts have promised promotion of walking, (e)cycling, etc... but nobody has actually delivered anything so the only option open to commuters is to travel in filthy, disease infested, environmentally destructive taxis and hackneys.
... and how does that reflect on drivers and their self-appointed representatives protesting for subsidies to get men back to work because there's no work?
