Fair play to you.  Is that a quit smoking app you have there? Wouldn't mind stopping myself.
https://www2.hse.ie/wellbeing/quit-smoking/sign-up-and-quit-smoking/sign-up-and-quit-smoking.html

Horse,

I just had a fagairy [see what I did there?] one day and clicked onto the site. I picked a date out of the blue on the sign-up form and went on to tell Mrs. Bullet what I was contemplating and we agreed a month in advance or 08/08/2020.

The HSE stays with you all the way through the first year, contacting you daily. I bought the lozenges and inhalers etc, but I hated them. I chose to change my routine/ triggers and after five minutes the urge goes away.

Firstly, hour by hour, then day by day. It was routine more than nicotine withdrawal that was the key for me.

(After meals, after dropping off a punter, etc).

I wish you well on your journey. Read all the literature online before setting a date and getting rid of ashtrays.
Good post SB, I'm hopeing to follow your lead !

Can we now bury the Hatchet between us ?
Good stuff Ken, good to see an adult in the room/forum now and then.

Well spotted Bob.

Yea ! Me too, I love 'em too but I know it's just plain wrong,
I've been smoking since 8 years old and love every fag (especially Menthol) but at 56 now it should be time to stop.

There's no point Ken ...it's a bit like them fat birds that start jogging in July, a week before they go to Lanzarote hoping to lose 4 stone.

We have to hand it to them, they do a great job in supporting anyone trying to give up the cigarettes. Mrs. Bullet and I are now off the smokes for over a year.

It's only when you see the numbers does reality hit:

did you cut down gradually or did you quit cold turkey.

€16.5K is more than some drivers earn, and we were setting fire to it.

SWMBO is using an occasional vape, but I cut out all forms of smoking.
I picked a random date a few weeks away after contacting Quit.ie allowing myself to prepare. Really all i did was throw out the ashtrays.
I consoled myself saying "If I fail I can start again the next day".

I'm fine for the first 3 days then I usually cave in. If I'm having a beer I'll last till im about half way through my 2nd pint then it's out with the smokes and me promising myself I'll do better next time which has yet to pan out.
If'n your serious about this Horse, then I will challenge you.
OFF THE SMOKES !
A Ton a man either side, the First to smoke a ciggie is the loser ?
And pays the Winner a Ton through IBAN bank transfer or Paypal.
A toke is allowed as is any type of vape/electronic yoke but no ciggies, cigars or roll-up ciggies.

It's a Gentleman's agreement and full respect is expected.
You name the start time Horse at Midnight any night ?

That sounds like a plan Ken but I'll need time to prepare,  lots of time. Leave it with me.
Give me a birra time/notice Horse if'n we decide to go fer it.
As much as I don't respect any paid fer counselling service, I would still need to look over SB's links on Quit before any undertaking.

A bit of encouragement instead of stick is what we need. We'll never give em up with that attitude.  You'd drive a man to drink nevermind a smoke.
