From the erm:

COVID-19 payments

People getting COVID-19 payments – either the COVID-19 Pandemic Unemployment Payment or Revenue’s wage subsidy schemes (including the Temporary Wage Subsidy Scheme, the Employment Wage Subsidy Scheme and the Employer COVID-19 Refund Scheme) – will be awarded PRSI contributions at the class they were paying immediately before they were laid off, while they are getting the relevant payment or scheme.

So no need for volunatry contributions on account of the covid anall.

So will people who were in receipt of those payments but who have since returned to work prior to this announcement be entitled to same?

Yes, I think so.  Tax these days is done on a weekly or even daily basis so you would have gotten the credit the week you earned it, regardless of whether you were on the PUP or working.

My accountant has done and submitted my tax returns.  I asked the same question about voluntary stamps and he said I got them anyways because I was on the PUP so need for voluntary stamps. (that was my interpretation anyways)

Yes.

When i started back in a real job in Sept i got hammered for tax on my first paycheck,i rang Revenue and spent about half an hour sorting it out,PUP was the main reason and i'll continue to pay a higher rate until year end....but yes PUP payments do show up but what they did from Feb was to reduce your tax credits and calculated your PUP earnings up till Dec 31st 2021,unfortunately for me,myself and the missus are jointly assessed and her salary was affected for the time i was on the PUP.
