Got my plastic driver licences from the NTA this morning.  So it ended up being 2 weeks processing with the Gardai and 2 weeks processing with the NTA  :o  So much for applying 3 months in advance!

I think it's only the Dublin Guards (i.e. the Carriage Office) and a few other Garda stations around the country asking for the history report.  Number is below and it's free to get though.

Just went through this myself.  It's only the Dublin Guards that are looking for it AFAIK.  NDLS phone number is 0818-700-800 and it's a free service.  C.O. Guard warned me it takes days for the NDLS to answer the phone but I got through in 10 mins.  Still took them 3 days to email the file to me though.

Despite the warnings in the NTA letter, my application went very quickly - about 5 weeks start to finish!
