To clean or not to clean .I usually power wash the car including underneath when I go for the NCT my thinking it shows a bit of respect to the person having to inspect it ,but Big Dommo recons if you clean it they can get a better look and find more faults like worn rubbers or boots ? So what do you recommend clean it or leave it ? Upside of a good clean for the NCT is its done for the Suitability a few days later !

Not nessesary

Probably overkill to clean the underside every year. I think the official line it has to be clean enough that the tester can see everything. Maybe clean the underside every second year?

I've never seen a suitability tester look under the car.

When you say rotate the tyres do you mean swap the fronts with the backs? If so why do you do that? Just buy new front tyres ye hungry git. Can't see the logic in doing that. Next time around you'll need 4 tyres.

Front tyres wear roughly twice the rate as the back ones do, so yes it makes sense to rotate and just buy two at a time once a year depending on your milage of course

I do buy 2 at a time once a year. 2 front ones. The backs last about 3  years. Why would one take half worn tyres and stick them on the back? As I said, next time round you've to get 4 tyres.
