No. The energy companies will get €600 to mitigate or reduce their customer bills. Nothing to stop the leccy companies increasing the bills until they get their pint of blood on top of the €600.
Talk to any of your friends/passengers with those Pre-Pay meters - they'd be nearly crying by the end of their story. The money just vanishes out of those meters.
We get a good chunk of our gas from the UK (Scotland). Their energy regulator wrote to our one last week warning there's no guarantee that they'll keep supplying us. If they stop (Brexit negotiations á la Putin & his pipelines), what are we gonna do? We'd be fukked. Houses would be ok but I guess many industries would have to shut down.
I'm nowhere near as pessimistic as JohnM but I think we're in for a long 6 months & a quiet Xmas.
