I’d fukin love to be a Nct tester, I’m one of the oddballs of life who actually enjoys bringing a heep to get tested.

I genuinely love inspecting a car before the Nct to see what it might fail on and being pleasantly surprised on it passing.

Oh I’d be a terrible tester though, all the 20+ year old shitboxes would get a automatic pass while the heeps still on pcp finance would get failed.

I quite like the NCT also. I don't do any preparation or preliminary work for it though, just let the inspectors do their job. In fact, 55 notes is pretty good value for an annual inspection utilising all the tools and gadgets at NCTSs disposal.

However, it can be frustrating when there's a fault they don't find. My current yoke has a wet weather squeak which I think is coming from the rear passenger side suspension which has gone through the National car test undianosed twiice to date. I'm guessing it's rubber... ifn it was the front I'd be 86.87% certain it'd be the anti roll bar bushes but I don't know if there's an anti roll bar on the back. I'll have to sick me noggin under next time I'm changing the rerar brake pads, I guess.
If it doesn't have a roof sign and door stickers it's not a taxi.

Oh... another complaint I have with the NCT is it's effectiveness as far as taxis/hackneys are concerned. It seems completely crazy that a car can fail a roadworthiness test and continue to carry passengers for reward. Logically all relevant licences should be revoked and all relevant signage removed until the car is roadworthy. Believe it or not, I was in a taxi as a passenger last month up above in Dublin only to be told by the driver that the car had failed the National car test and he had to change some bit or other before rebooking. If it wasn't so difficult to hire a taxi up above in Dublin I would have ended the journey there and then. I think I just quipped that I can't play the piano very well instead.

Thanks Octy, I'll have a read of that when I have the time/inclination. It can't be anything catastrophic or the NCT folk would have found it, I guess.

Taut them prius was a great yoke ...noticed steam comin out me exhaust ( unusual ammount)...an  checked me coolant .....an was  low ...topped it up an down its goin slowly ...apparently a common fault  barrin a head gasket which is highly unlikely...
Next yoke be electric one way or another ide imagine  oops

Isn't there two seperate coolant systems in the Prius, one for the batteries and one for the engine? I know that's the case with the hybrid Starlet or whatever it's called these days.
