I showed pic before I put pipe on hal ....but didn't ( forgot )  take any of the fix ..you'll need a hoist 
I put a  made up pipe on ...its pretty good but ...the  one I ordered be better as its tucked up further from the exhaust an further  from the ground an  will eliminate unessessary pipin....
Be a lovely job ....
Anyway I'll see how it goes ....
These yokes go  around  100 k or sooner I'm hearing an cost a fortune as they include the cat so anyone who's gettin a newer prius mite be interested in this ..and if its successful...
I can't see any negative outcomes but weel soon find out .... oops

It's supposd to be the same engine as the new Corrolla.Maybe they fixed the issue on later models.Glad you got it sorted.

Is there an engine temperature gauge on the new Prius?

If not an OBD reader will allow you to monitor the coolant temperature if it's a concern.Bit fiddly but ya can look into it.

Yea merc ther wud have to be a temp warning sensor...but thers no low coolant warning device fitted   ::fds..... ...the main symptom is heater not working apparently....
Mine was a gurgle  I heard  in the heater ( heater still working) after parkin up an I checked the reservoir ...it was low ..
So far coolant has remained at full but havnt done lot drivin ..

The car is deffo monitoring the temperature of the fluids so it will let you know hopefully if it gets too hot.My coolant is never above 82°C according to my OBD reader thing.

Got the pipe this mornin ...it goes here



Car driving  perfectly  with the temporary pipe..no coolant loss .... goin put the blue  pipe on permanently....
Job done
Successful outcome.....

If yu get a new prius ...yull almost certainly will be doin this

What was the purpose of the coolant pipe that you blocked off?Heat recovery or something else?

Here Octy I got curious about this and found this video.It sounds like it's similar to your issue.Yer man just swapped over the connection on the coolant pipes under the bonnet.Dunno if ya saw it already.

Very good Octy.....keep a note where you sourced the pipe...cos no doubt someone will come along with the same problem and be getting in touch with you...and you with your ADHD,Aspergers,memory loss,homophobia and all the other undiagnosed stuff...you'll forget!!
