Any sign of John Creedon in them there parts, Ken? Feekna O'Braynawn is a piss poor substitute... even within the sea of mediocrity that constitutes Radio Eireann he shouldn't see the civilised side of midnight.
"yerra, musha, anyway, so" Creedo, Cork man of the year.. Fiachna is one of my favourites DJs, and a very nice man to boot, knows his music well. His playlist suits me very well, unlike Creedo who tried to tell us that a six year old Tinariwen album was a new release. Not fond of The Flowers music, but they all lived around Sandymount at one time, and all gents.

I'm not saying there's no place for him on the airwaves just not on the national airwaves. Maybe a specialist Sunday hour on The Noggin FM or some such might be more appropriate?

Incidentally, I don't dislike the Hothouse Flowers and would have absolutely no objection to John Creedon spinning their discs...

I dropped Fiachna to Seapoint/Monkstown a few years ago. As you say, down to earth.
Can't remember where I dropped O'Maonlaí.
I was saying I'd seen him jamming on Youtube with local musicians in Mali, he said "That programme hasn't aired yet"...take it up with Youtube then! 8)

Sorry, I don't listen to DJ's at all anymore, I was never a RTE fan but I did try Prenderville on Red FM and Boylan on Classic hits fer a bit, soon got pissed off of both due to their understandable PC approach to most topics. These nights I just listen to Red FM but usually switch when they go to the stoopid 'Mudderfooker' rap songs over to classic hits 4FM where they play all the Eighties tunes all night long, no DJ's and very few ad's.

Donal Dineen on Today FM was my go-to DJ on Here comes the night.

Now its Spotify and Art Blakey and the Jazz Messengers, or anything from Blue Note Records.

Next time you see him tell him I said he shouldn't give up the night job. I don't dispute that he's a competent musician and a decent ol' skin anall, he's just way out of his depth presenting a daily light entertainment show. The anorak format necessarily narrated with name-dropping anecdotes gets tedious evening after evening, 5 days a week. In fact I left it on on Monday or Thursday (can't remember which) this week and it was the good old "... so I rang Van Morrisson" that prompted me to twist the dial...

"What's Radio Grandad?"

Not sure. Google suggests "Grandad Radio" is a spothefly playlist or some such. Maybe that's what you're thinking of?

I knew you couldn't be one of the fast-walking people.
