Many will undoubtedly settle here, erm.... and, at least as far as the economy is concerned, they will be more than welcome. Our own homeless won't work in hotels and bars, won't stack brick, won't fit kitchens/windows/etc, won't fix cars/buses/trucks/etc., won't clean our houses, cars and offices, won't drive our taxis, buses, trams, trains, trucks, etc, etc... These are all things that are essential for our economy to function. You are, of course, correct to note that we have a long tradition of emigration, probably on a less voluntary basis than is currently the case. The world is a smaller place today than was the case in 1835, for example, and our youngsters are, for the most part, eager to explore foreign climes.
