I did one this morning.Fishamble St to the airport.
She was guaranteed €25.As she was a bit late for her plane,we went the port tunnel and it came to €34.
She can thank fn for the 9 quid discount, because I got paid in full.(in fact it doesn't mention what the quoted fare is on our screen). ......
It will be interesting to see if you do get paid in full on your statement next Tuesday Van D ?

Think of the Possibilities of A I on Transport .You have a Black box on board No more Motor tax or Fuel Duty but Road Charging  .Your Car ,Scooter ,Bike .Bus ,Truck is fitted with a black box it records what road you traveled and at what time and charges you on a sliding scale per kilometer higher for Motorway at Peak times less if you travel off peak Just like your Smart ESB meter .This would open up a huge revenue scheme from Transport and the Cyclists and Scooters would have to pay for the use of the Roads they occupy .Same for parking why pay for an hour if you are just running to the shop for bread .Crypto would allow greater Factorials instead of charging by the mile they could sub devide it down to inches creating more revenues .Imagine that same Black Box could issue you with penelty points or speeding Fines .Sounds impossible we already have a bleeper to pay the toll and the parking in certain multiparks  Block chain can link all these service togeather and Ireland will be the World Leaders as we house most of the Digital Companies that want to monetize the internet .They are not interested in Crypto let somebody else collect the Coin on their behalf all they want to change is the Tech .Look at your Revolute App you can Bank buy Crypto Buy Shares all at the touch of a Button .I have a watch tells me how much I sleep .Breath .Blood Pressure .Oxygen Levels Im sure if my dock knew that he would down load it and use it to Diagnose stuff unlike having to deal with you in the moment when you are stressed as he shoves his finger up you to check your Prostate .The Future is Digital and Crypto its just a matter of which of the Low value Coins will Moonshot like ETH or BIT .

Now imagine you are driving a Taxi and Free Now or some other App sends you a Job and You refuse and your meter is automatically turned off and you get a Notification from the Taxi AI Bot As you have exceeded your refusal rate under your licencing agreement with TFI you are suspended from carrying fares for 24 hours .OK thats Probably a few years away but all Free Now or Uber or Bolt need to Do is write a few Lines of Code that will just stop sending you work if you reach a high refusal rate .WHIPPING BOYS .

I believe every new car sold in the EU after 2024 or '25 (?) will have a basic speed limiter installed in them.  It can overridden for now but it wouldn't take too much to make it active 100% of the time.

New cars have had a SIM card in them for the past few years for emergency dialling if the car thinks you've been in accident.

Everything else you suggest could probably be done easily enough through your mobile already (Google Maps & Bank app).  Make it mandatory to start the car with your phone/ID and jobs done!

Or how about your phone takes a photo of your eyes to see if you're hungover or on drugs and the car won't start!  The GPS will tell the car if you're in the driver or passenger seat!

Uber are giving 50% off fares to certain customers.Freenow can well afford to subsidise a few jobs.

Good to hear, so LITE makes no difference in fare to the driver.

Free Now sent me a 50% off offer but I would have to take a full price journey to get the voucher i.e. the 50% is off the following tour. I haven't used them for a while because fares are a lot lower with Bolt or Lynk yet both of those firms pay their drivers more than Free Now.

I've often wondered how they can offer dirt cheap tours in London - typically a clapped out Prius at less than half the taxi fare - but not in Dublin. Both jurisdictions have similar licensing laws i.e. the clapped out Pryeyeeyeuseses require SPSV licences in both cases.
If it doesn't have a roof sign and door stickers it's not a taxi.

I've a vague memory of JohnM doing history tours in his taxi a few years back but I think he got a phone call from the NTA and that stopped that.  Maybe he might know more?
