Yeah, the amount of Dublin Buses going that way can be spectacular. At approx 9am most mornings, Mon-Fri, they all back up onto O'Connell St bridge and it's quite the sight!
I have some sympathy for them though and I think the blame lies more with DCC and how they manage the traffic lights. I try to stick to the suburbs but for the past week, I'd had the (mis)fortune of getting a few into the city centre and then a few in the city centre. The lights are set up so you're just driving from red light to red light. Drove a girl (street hail) from Croppies Acre (Wolfe Tone Quay) to Claredon St and it was €12. The only green light we got was at Pen's Corner... Think it was 9 red lights and 1 green over 2.7km!
Must be soul-destroying being a bus driver doing a 8 or 10 hours shift driving around in circles from red light to red light and nobody to talk to.
