"Taxi Only" left turn just after A1 Artane roundabout?

Been meaning to ask this for ages.  What's the story with the "Taxi Only" left turn just after the A1 Artane roundabout on the Malahide road?  Seems a bit random and you have to cross a 'no entry' white line to get into the road.  Any other weird ones like this around Dublin?  Could come up on a pub quiz some year

I've known that to be that way for as long as I've been driving my Joe.. even longer from my courier days...I think I've only used it a handful of times in my taxi driving years.

It gives access to Mount Dillion Court, and Mount Dillon Industrial Estate, a sheltered accommodation/OAP block of flats.

They spend the day in the Roundabout pub and the bookies, then get a taxi home. They'll complain if the driver misses the turn!!

We had a similar quiz on Roy's some years ago. The Artane one is the one most of us (at least those familiar with the northside suburbs of Dublin) knew. I think there was another but I'm fucked if I can remember it now.

Its Simple really .Its a two way street .The Bus does not go down that way .It is blocked by a Bus lane so Civilian traffic have no entry to the bus lane but Taxis do .

It's not blocked by a bus lane. It's opposite the broken white line before the start of the bus lane. Would you like a practical driving lesson covering road markings?

The broken line is to allow traffic out .Its still a bus lane . What is the rule for Gaffs with bus lanes outside .Is it legal to cross the continuous white line if you own a gaff ?

In practical terms you are not entirely wrong but in accordance with the rules of the road there would be a continuous line on the right hand side of the broken line if it was only to allow traffic cross from the left hand side. The bus lane itself starts at the sign which contains an information plate specifying hours or operation. You may cross a continuous white line to access a premises but do so with caution. What are you doing on Nov 7th?

NO ...That was traumatic I had to take the weekend off to recover

Dropping OAPs at that very point to save them money would create a much bigger hazard.
