I was hit from behind last Monday as it goes. Not a lot of damage but the TP wasn't freely admitting liability so I went through the motions of reporting it. In fact, my insurance was up for renewal the following Sunday. When I contacted my insurer (FBD) the gentleman advised that it was clearly a "not to blame" on my part and would have no effect on my quote. He also advised me to contact the TPs insurer myself to expedite the claims process. When I called Allianz the lady advised that they already had notification of the incident and all she needed was my name, address, phone number, reg number to arrange an estimate from one of their approved workshops. No claim form or detailed description of what happened has been requested as yet so I assume it's uncontested.
If it doesn't have a roof sign and door stickers it's not a taxi.

Sounds good.  Too good, in fact  ::fds  Maybe better to find out the statute of limitations on claims before you let out that sign of relief?

Can't see a claim on the TPs part going anywhere, it was probably as straightforward as an accident can be and I suspect Allianz told her as much. I kept the dashcam footage anyway. At the risk of sounding sexist, it can take the fairer sex a while to accept they're wrong regardless of how obvious that may be.

Never admit liability at the scene, that's what claims adjusters are for.

Oh right. Just if someone rear ended me I'd probably be calling them a toss pot. Cheers bullets.

You are entitled to the full cost of the estimate + whatever you add on fer loss of earnings while car in fer repair. As in you get paid the full estimate but you can have it done by a local panel beater fer a fraction of what a main dealer might charge and trouser the difference.

A non-taxi friend of mine just 'scratched' her car along a wall & needs a new bumper and side panel,  I believe.  She was half-thinking the same thing but the insurance company were pushing the official garage repair and said if she went down the 'indie garage' route, the paperwork & payment would take forever.  So she went the official garage route and is getting a courtesy car for a few days while the repairs take place.  Little or no paperwork.
