Did you work this morning or 'tis only a bit of snow?
« on: March 01, 2024, 08:42:24 am »
I decided discretion is the better part of valour.  Whatever about my driving, I'd be worried about someone running into the back (or side!) of me.   I went out for the newspaper at 7am this morning and cleared the snow off my windows but it  re-covered my taxi within the hour so it's heavy enough and sticking.

And I guess it's one of the downsides of an EV (and maybe any new car).  If I crashed and needed spare parts, I could be waiting a month or more  >:D

So back home now with a nice cup of coffee.  Just hope there's something good on the telly  ::sleep

It's extremely easy to spin the front tyres in damp conditions as I found out when my EV was new.  I even spun the wheels in 3rd gear one day but that was deliberate  :P  Not gonna chance it in this snow.

Norway:  They probably learn how to drive in snow when they're L-drivers?  But ~25% of cars in Norway are EV and~ 80% of new car sales are EV's.  Ireland is not Norway with our shitty roads!

No snow in the beautiful seaside resort town of Balbriggan. Plenty of rain this morning - particularly heavy (maybe hail) when I got up for a  piss c.04:13, eased off now but still falling and it looks pretty cold outside. I'll not be going far this weekend anyway, cricket and darts on telly.
If it doesn't have a roof sign and door stickers it's not a taxi.

There's about two inches of snow on my yoke at the moment.

Like Watty not driving a shitheap has it's disadvantages. When I was younger and enthusiastic I had no problem taking the Primera out in the snow as there were loads in scrapyards all over the place to get parts off if I messed up.

Should be a busy day for shitheap drivers everywhere if the snow gets worse, as most of the leccy taxis are rear wheel drive. My yoke is FWD but I still don't wanna scratch it for a hundred euro.

What have we become..

Hal was working today...left the gaff around 5.20am...pissin rain and blowin a gale, made about 60 bucks working Drog/Bettystown/Mornington.....First bit of sleet was around Swords...was a bit worster at the airport....Santry was in a jock....traffic was the worst enemy....the car was actually ok in the snow albeit a bit too much torque, the Prius was a much car especially using the "B" gear(regen braking)....job offers from the apps were a bit mental...ended up getting an airport job around 12 from city centre and fucked off home...roads around Dublin were in a jock with packed slush and ice...was glad to get the fuk out of it tbh.
