The law you need to be registered to vote .Just apply for a vote using an address in the area use a vacant site address .The voting card will be sent there .Just check the register to see you have been registered from that address ,On the day turn up to vote request your ballott paper say you never got the card and produce your Id Driving licence or Passpoer .You do not need a voting card to vote .This is ABSOLUTELY LEGAL as long as you are not registered to vote any where else .Noel Dempsey told Gasy Byrne on the Late Late years ago that he got all his family and their inlaws to register from his mas gaff so they could vote for him .You can only vote Once and register once I dont think you need to be a Permanent resident of the address you use .

what i mean is can you spoof and say you live in ballybough and go in and vote for gerard. i'm not use to spoofing is the only thing.

Spoof is a strong word... personate sounds much better. If you join Shin Fayne you might gain access to polling cards going spare.... of course, you'll have to let on you're using them to elect Mary Lou.
We in Kilmore Ouest are now in the Dublin North West constituency. We are no longer Dublin Bay North.

I've noticed that with Sinn Fein/IRA posters, their posters are much higher up the lamp posts than usual.

A sad day for the country if Hutch was elected.

Or a great day for Democracy ? There were lads elected stole more than Gerry .Blokes who made decisions around drugs and vacines back in the day did more damage than Gerry ever did .I would hope we are not that Stupit to elect him but its the voters choice .Its a strange Constituenct .Always elected a strange one Tony the Traitor ,Finnion Mc Grath .Cypian Brady the only person ever elected with less than 1000 first prefrence votes .Garry Gannon .Took over from Maureen the Gregory candidate .Wouldnt back him to win but wouldnt lay him to lose either .I recon Paddy Powers offer 4/6 he gets elected .I would price him about 11/8 .Stenson and the Taxi driver might split the local vote .My best guess he falls short .Garry Gannon must be fucking Furious .Me forcast for this election the Social Dems might get just 1 seat in Dublin .

Yes, but it's good if evolution is positive rather than negative as in USA,Russia. Israel etc.

"a likeable Rogue", interesting description for Hutch considering all his career activities to date.

Constituenct boundries have been changed now only 4 seater .Hutch NO Chance of getting 20% +1 .Mary Lou ,Paggo ,probably Garry Gannon thought he might be in trouble .Last seat is up for grabs .HUtch will be in the shake up .Stenson and other non Normal candidates could split the vote Keep Hutch behind Mary Fitzpatrick of FF who might get FG transfers if Paggo gets a Quota early .Gerry 3/1 with Boylesports .

BBC, 2001: http://news.bbc.co.uk/news/vote2001/low/english/northern_ireland/newsid_1369000/1369138.stm

Quote
The government ultimately plans to limit the list of specified identity documents to those with a photograph, but its new measures to combat fraud were not ready in time for these elections.  The Northern Ireland Office has also said research into the extent of vote stealing will be carried out after the dust has settled on this poll.

Meanwhile, the accusatory fingers continue to be pointed most often at republicans, namely Sinn Fein.  In a recent debate in the Northern Ireland Assembly on electoral fraud, the DUP's Willie McCrea, paid his enemies a backhanded compliment when he said they were "masters of fraud".  Sinn Fein has shrugged off such remarks as "sour grapes" demanding the proof to back up such claims.

<snip>

And indeed it is true that the former electoral officer Pat Bradley told the Northern Ireland Select Committee some time ago that electoral fraud was widespread and was practiced by supporters of ALL the parties.Ironically, in this campaign the finger-pointing over impropriety has been by Sinn Fein towards unionists.

FFS Watty did you not read between the lines of what I wrote .You do not need to reside PERMANENTLY at the address you register from .Now imagine you have an Irish Passport live in up north but register to vote from a gaff down here .You would not be breaking any Law ??????.As long as you only register once .

My comment was replying to SB's 'upset the SF/IRA apple cart' comment.

You'd have to set up your idea well in advance.  The docs needed to prove your ID contain your name and, by implication, your address.

What you need to vote
It is very important to remember that you can only vote at the polling station listed on your polling information card. You don’t need to bring your polling information card with you to vote but you must bring a form of valid ID.

You can use the following documents to prove your identity:

a passport;
a driving licence;
an employee identity card containing a photograph;
a student identity card issued by an educational institution and containing a photograph;
a travel document containing name and photograph;
a Bank or Savings or Credit Union book containing address in constituency;
a Public Services Card;
a Temporary Residence Certificate;
a Garda National Immigration Bureau Card;
an Irish Residence Permit;

Or the following items accompanied by a further document which establishes the address of the holder in the constituency:

a cheque book;
a cheque card;
a debit card;
a credit card;
a birth certificate;
a marriage certificate
