It's not penny pinching Octy it's about getting rid of inefficiency.

I don't like have to deal with any of the installers once they've put the meter in.It's a ball ache running out of paper and having to find more.Me car was full of used paper.Door pockets,glove box in me jeans pockets fukking everywhere.Around me neck like a tie..

The money saving is just an unexpected benefit.
Yea maybe ... as long as Ken isn't cuntagess .... I do remember sumone on here yers ago posting that them rolls are carcinogenic... an I do remember readin bout it meself an as far as I know they are ... so maybe that's another benefit  not havin to handle the cunty tings

It's more about inconvenience for me than cost. I'll miss my switch, no doubt about that!

However, as someone pointed out on here recently, the receipt numbers collected at each ISI/LRA could give Revenue useful data. In my case it'd be fairly obvious that such data is being suppressed unless they find fares averaging over a grand plausible!

I gave up my beautiful switch on the old Hale a few years back, I did Love both of them, but both sadly gone off to the big Meter/Switch factory in the sky.
I really hate CHANGE !!

Very unexpectantly I have taken very much to my nua Alberen mirror meter, which I had my mind set very firmly on Hating from day 1. With a birra help from SB in showing me the online user manual, which I read;
https://www.manualslib.com/products/Alberen-Itaksi-M12-10532812.html

The Alberen printer on the dash is a Joy, leave the cover very slightly ajar and it never prints, obviousely never volunteer a receipt but if they ask, just tap the printer cover down and press the 'Vacant' button and out it comes, if'n you make a Bollix of that, then just do it again putting the printer cover down properly next time with a tiny birra roll sticking out and press 'Vacant' as many times as you want to print more of the same receipts.

After the receipt is printed, tear it off, give it to the customer and then using two fingers pull up the roll just a tiny tad and half close the cover.
@ Stephen; It's actually easier to do than turning the old switch On/Off when you get used to it.
But I would advise practise.

Like yourself I'm not at all keen on a mirror meter, Ken. However, it seems the logical way to go given that our next cars might not readily accommodate dashboard fitting i.e. most newer cars seem to have screens blocking much of the dashboard. Maybe it'll grow on me too!

In the words of me 'Small fella' whom I spent half an hour Grumbling about the new meter and printer to, he said;
"Fook sake Da, ya get used to it !".

That's exactly the way my semitron printer works Ken. I must try the vacant button to see if it reprints the last receipt because the very odd time it gets stuck and kinda doesn't print properly.  It's only on the really rare occasions though.

Just wondering did anyone actually get a semitron meter upgraded yet? And if they did does the meter still run with the printer door open? I'd hate to have to go back to constantly printing receipts that nobody wants. The fact Ken has his one going like my one now would kill me if mine didn't work anymore :(

No, not yet Ken. I was waiting till the rush died down.  I don't work nights anymore so I don't really give a shit about the pittance of a raise they gave the day drivers. What is it anyway,  4 pence extra for every 100 miles or something ridiculous like that isn't it.

It was a pretty dismal raise fer the Day drivers at only a 1.5% increase in the running rate, but at least ye can now put on the extra Euro on the PUC.

Probably in the manual, Ken! You can download/view (Alberen M12) in PDF format from:

https://taxipoint.ch/wp-content/uploads/2021/03/M12-Taxameter-English.pdf

If it doesn't have a roof sign and door stickers it's not a taxi.
