You spent much of last year suggesting the men should beg, borrow and steal to buy EVs because your sources told you there'd be no more grants. Surely you appreciate by now that if you tip a horse in a two horse race anyone with an ounce of sense backs the other one!

I guess the future is bright!

Very true. NTA forcing older men to invest so heavily only serves to create an increased number of dependents in time for the next recession.

You are what you eat, they say. Nobody suggested stupidity. If you wanted or needed a new car you most likely chased down the best deal available... despite your own reservations expressed on this forum since.

However, I'm not sure what you had to gain from introducing what now seems to be a contrived agenda on behalf of your sources. I'm sure a man of your intellect has considered and indeed questioned what your sources might have to gain from leading you in any particular direction, be it the right one or the wrong one. At the end of the day using you to pedal their agenda absolves them of any accountability.

Nobody said there will be grants although they are mentioned in the Programme for Govt. Only your sources said there won't be. Time will tell.

My advice was to anybody thinking of going EV to apply for the grant .The bit of paper in your pocket did not need to be used if you decided against it and you could always reapply .But handing out advice on here falls on deaf ears .Lads could of had ADR licences College degrees .Driving instructor qualifications .Extended Covid payments ,Medical Cards .I only know of two posters availed of any or some of this advice .

I think you can read the rust .They are EXTENDING the lifetime of existing taxis so getting the rustbucket gas guzzling older cars off the road does not seem to be the priority it was under Eamo .The PFG says they will continue to support Taxis to go EV .That could just be the extra %k and no scrappage as they seem to value scrap on the roads .We will have to wait and see what the new minister has as his priority .Unlike Mr Ross who wanted to put nappies on horses .Which reminds me I notice the shit catchers they had on the Pony ant Traps at Guinness now seem to have disappeared.

That's a perfectly valid opinion. I'm in the camp that'd like to see age rules - which in ten years have achieved precisely nothing in terms of the average age of taxis on the road - should be revoked to allow older drivers who don't want to invest unnecessarily to continue to serve their clients, clients who might'nt otherwise have access to any service.
If it doesn't have a roof sign and door stickers it's not a taxi.

Rodent this is now a thing !"Girl Math(s)" is a playful, lighthearted internet trend that humorously describes how some people rationalize spending decisions, particularly when treating themselves to purchases. It’s often framed as a way to justify spending by using unconventional, creative, or sometimes illogical reasoning.

Now I bought a Car that costs me 1.5 K per annum over its lifetime .I recon I save 30 euro a week on my old fuel bill .Now do the Maths the car was FREE based on fuel savings .FUCKING STUPIT ME .

As above nobody suggested you were stupid... maybe misled into pedalling the Govt policy u-turns suggested by your sources... but even that remains to be seen in the context of EV grants. If you needed or wanted a car no doubt you got the best deal available at the time, despite your own reservations expressed on here since.

The age rules were introduced by the mean and nasty Kathleen
Doyle during Minister Kelly's tenure having been devised under the stewardship of Minister Dempsey... long before Minster Ryan's stewardship. They're intended to be a barrier to entry/continued participation on foot of a need to reduce the size of the fleet in response to the global economic collapse of 2008. I think the only EVs on the road back then were milk floats and bread vans!

Blah blah blah, isn’t this the same shit we’ve being listening to from the same person for the last 10 years, the same guy who test drove an mg5, and slated it? Then bought one… if your too lazy to make a decent living from a taxi, don’t bother trying to drag everyone else down with you, you are the epitome of the crab in the bucket, “if I can’t get out, I’ll drag you all back in too”…
Just stay as you are, drinking in the flats talking shit with imaginary people earning minimum wage and leave those with aspirations or ambitions alone to succeed..
