I have heard mention of certain non local drivers not putting the correct metered fare in if it's lower than the fixed fare. I wouldn't do that myself but I can understand why they do it... the client has agreed a price so is highly unlikely to pay any attention to the meter... in fact, most are gone before you total it when they're paying by app.

When you back a horse you dont care what price just that it wins .I changed my taxi work I go out to get a Purse .Im going to log back in to Free Now havent done any work for them in 10 months ..So going to go out get a ton a day buck and a bit on Saturday and Sunday I dont want to do nights .Now I listened to lads complaining abouth freight .I never worked for Vinny on National .But how much was their weekly freight / How much did they take on Corporate .How much did the average driver pocket ? I doubt there is much difference between what City Cabs took in the GOOD OLD DAYS and now % wise .

Ther was a mad cnut on here last year  warning about this and he also warned these fixed fares will go over 50% discount wen fully "adopted "

Uber is usin computer tings ... ai an all sort o shoite as yu all kno  .... the desperate immigrant rentin will be targeted first ... the middle aged far rite layabout  mad cnut who lives in his mas box room  an has zero bills apart from his car will tell em ta shuv it up ther arse an eventually heel be offered zero jobs cause the computer will try to starve him ta death  sort o ting untill capitulation ......... . wen it gets quiet ... the computers will offer you jobs with bigger discounts on you...  yet the discount  to the apes will remain the same
...the apes dont realise that the fixed fares to them will    be similar to as the metered fare .... theyll be told its cheaper an theyll fall for it ....  .... the profit will be extracted  from drivers then  the apes  with priority charges  and more hidden charges  yet theyll still believe ther getting it cheap .....and the nta or oirish government will doo fuk all about it  as per usual ...... the desperate  new arrivals paying extortionate rent and renting taxis will take anything given to them  ....now ya can see globalism in action and one of the  main reasons  for mass immigration of only men... . Mass cheap third world labour replacing indigenous uppity cnuts demanding a fair wage and a  standard of living  who are in the way of corporate profit ... yur no different from a sheep now or a cow  or kunta kinty in " roots  poor cnuts ........ the only solution is an irish driver  run app which is already running  but facing criticism from drivers who are stolkholmed  by corporate america thinking ther priority  gives them  an advantage over other drivers  and dont  recognise ther fuking up ther future  but all will understand it eventually  even those on here singing ubers praises ... .... oh the humanity 

Ther was a mad cnut on here a while ago told yis yer all unemployed if tap or trip  or watever irish run app doesnt take the americans on .... giving out about a lousy 300 fee to join up . A paltry sum to at least have a go at saving your jobs wedder ya tink its possible or not .... sum of yis piss that up  against a wall in a pub every month  or smoke that in 2 weeks ... join up or shut up but stop criticising  those that are trying  better ther lives

If you paid 19 you were robbed. You should take that up with Uber but the most likely explanation is that the (immigrant?) driver entered a much higher figure than actually recorded on his meter to make sure he got the full "fixed" fare... some of those lads have very basic English language skills so could be forgiven for thinking fixed means fixed, I guess.

My point, however, is not really relevant to what you paid or why... You said the meter is NEVER less than the fixed fare up above in Dublin. In the example given it clearly was!

I wonder do different drivers get different rates... I got 7 jobs from Uber yesterday... 6 of them were so-called fixed fares and they were all settled on the meter... although one would have reverted to the fixed fare had I not forgot to add the €2.30 toll:

Clinstown - Balbriggan (1pax) Meter 20.00 FF 26.62
Gormanston - Local (1pax) Meter  8.60 FF 9.88
Balbriggan - Naul (1pax) Meter 16.30 FF 19.45
Stamullin - Gormanston (1pax) Meter 10.60 FF 12.22
Gormanston - Dundalk (2pax) Meter 88.40 FF 88.13*
Dundalk - Local - Metered Fare.
Drogheda - Local (1pax) Meter 10.00 FF 10.42


* forgot toll so the 88.40 I input was separated to interpret the meter fare as 86.10 hence it was settled at that rate with the 2.30 toll added as a refund.
