Just saw a few there...
Sandymount castle to DAP 23.40 after fees...seems very cheap to me.

Clayton hotel ballsbrdge to dap 23.45

Another one Mount merrion to Dap for 34 after fees. I dunno how those can be accurate.

Also seen Monkstown avenue to kylemore road for 33 something.

Maybe they're experimenting.

Now we know how the rich stay rich!

Just checked... Aircoach (bus with ~50 seats) is charging ~€11 one-way from St Vincents Hospital to Airport tomorrow.  Of course, you'd have to walk from your house with your luggage to the bus stop.  And you can't choose the exact time of pick-up.  And double-check you have your passport because the bus ain't turning around.  And hope it doesn't rain while you're waiting outdoors at the bus stop.
Getting old is compulsory whilst growing up is voluntary.

Lads you are all missing the point .THE GOODBODY REPORT was the blueprint .Did you actually read it ?more WATS DONE ,Better cars Grants and 9 year rule ,Aligned to Dispatchers DONE ,can you work without an app ? CCTV thats DONE you need to log in with a face scan on UBER expect that to be rolled out on All Apps .random request to upload a pivture ? The Roofie with tracker .DONE the apps track your work ,Lack of weekend cover .DONE increase rate for Golden 8 .Now LOOK at who solved all the Issues and you realise why the Apps are allowed to charge or do what they like .Off Street Ranking NOT DONE but on the way .Look at the Airport Zone 18 .when thats up and running it makes big money for DAA more that the Kesk .Thats the only item in the Goodbody not yet achieved OFF STREET RANKING .dont be surprised to see the Kesh handed over to DAA car Parking much more lucrative than annual fees .Why was area 18 allowed when the airport had an existing Taxi Service .The Taxi rank outside 1 and 2 handed over to bus and Coaches .THE GOODBODY REPOER is the Blueprint .and has just about been achieved but not the way drivers expected .

Erm piss off with your good body report.

Right this morning I took a job early Prussia street to DAP as the city was quiet. The offer said €24.26 so I took it thinking maybe I'm imagining things om other offers. No traffic and I followed the route on their map. NCR and Dorset Street to DAP.

Got to the airport.
Two passengers so €4 extras including the PUC.

Meter said 33.20 so I should have been paid 29.22.No idea why it's so far off.

They done me out of a fiver.I wont be emailing as I haven't got the patience.

That's it, no more arguing. Uber is fukking with the fixed fares. No proof needed. Decide for yourselves if it's still worth covering.I'll be getting very very fussy from now on.

Glad I covered the job as I thought I was imagining what the scamming cunts were up to.

Merch you Ignore the Goodbody at your Peril .Thats the Blueprint .The Apps are providing traceability .Customer Safety .We are providing newer cars and WATs through grants .the issue as highlited in Goodbody about lack of taxis on friday Sat late is covered by higher rates .So no need for CCTV or trackers in Roofies .They got what they wanted .Off Street Ranking Area 18 at the Port .Even though the Kesh provided a service .They got what they wanted just not the way we thought they would .Its there is Black and White they also wanted fare competition strange when we use a meter but meter is MAXIMUM Fare only ..There are more members on the TAC representing non Drivers than Drivers .

John with respect....this is a thread slagging off Uber and exposing their financial trickitude ...... The elephant jockies don't know what the Goodbody report is. They were probably learning English in school when it first came out.Now they're running rings around us covering discounts.

Why do you think they are allowed add booking fees ,tech fees , non meter fees ? We dont see any of that .People think drivers get all the add ons .I would go so far as to say the App booking policy is Racist exploiting drivers without a Broad Knowledge of the City .The Drivers Licence test has been made so easy that passing it does not mean you know your way from Kevin Street to Francis Street .So you are reliant on a Point to Point mapping App that can then exploit Passengers by sending cars a longer rout than a Professional Driver would take .Like I said Drivers under represented on the TAC .GOODBODY was the blueprint and they implement it .

DID THEY SAY AND GET THIS ...In the 2009 Goodbody Economic Review

On vehicle standards, Goodbody's position was essentially that deregulation should be accompanied by stronger quality standards and enforcement, rather than restricting the number of taxis. The report discusses the Commission's national vehicle standards and the move toward more stringent specifications.

On wheelchair accessibility, the report was quite clear that there was a significant shortage of wheelchair-accessible taxis. It noted:

The proportion of the fleet that was wheelchair accessible was only 7.5% in 2008.
There were about 1,600 wheelchair-accessible taxis, compared with 1,246 in 2005.
Although the absolute number had increased, it had not increased as quickly as the overall taxi fleet, so the percentage had fallen.
There was significant unmet demand for wheelchair-accessible services.
The Commission had already proposed financial assistance/subsidies to help operators purchase accessible vehicles.
Goodbody/ the Commission warned that without financial assistance, the relatively high cost of accessible vehicles could lead to inadequate replacement and potentially a significant depletion of the accessible fleet by 2012.
An important distinction

Goodbody didn't simply recommend that every existing taxi should immediately become wheelchair accessible. The approach was more about improving the standards of the accessible fleet and providing financial support to increase its supply.

However, following the Goodbody review, the Taxi Regulator went further: in October 2009 it announced that all new taxi licences would have to be for wheelchair-accessible vehicles, phased in over time. It also proposed a new category of wheelchair-accessible hackney to address gaps, particularly in rural areas.

Theyll keep pushing the discounts  testing the tolerance and pushing the envelope... ther is no bottom ....... they are filtering out  the desperate or low intelligence quota  from  the rest  and will attempt to starve  the rest into complying to hand over 50% + of ther earnings to uber .... this is uber unregulated  in ireland today and drivers who are doing these discounts are abandoning  rules and regulations  which wer put in place to protect the public and drivers ..... drivers doing the discounts are assisting uber in circumnavigating rules and regulations  and the government  has completedly turned a blind eye to app  regulatation ...... not only that but they are fucking up the job for everyone else.... if you do these discounts  yu are an uber driver with the added finacial burden of paying for all the necessary expense of having a roof sign that has become meaningless  other than you have you have use of a bus lane

As ya said merc if a real lean time comes   .... thers going to be a hell of alot of drivers in deep shit ..... we all remember 08 and we are setting ourselves up for the same situation  wit uber and ther coalition  on news talk  crying thers not enough taxis only this time  drivers will be excluded from working instantly because uber / fn  and bolt will switch off jobs to those who wont hand over half ther earnings ....I can walk away from it today I honestly dont need the taxi  but its criminal that the irish government and nta  have abandoned drivers  and left them to the mercy of these american scum sucking  vultures ....incomprehensible stupidity and betrayal....

ECONOMY OF SCALE UBER /FREE NOW ???Drivers could choose to affiliate with a dispatch company to obtain telephone-booked work.
Only about 40% of taxi drivers nationwide were affiliated with a dispatch operator at the time.
Affiliation was higher in urban areas.
In Dublin, affiliation had actually fallen from 51.2% in 2005 to 38.4% in 2008.
There were over 400 dispatch operators, but most were very small: around two-thirds had 10 vehicles or fewer.
Goodbody considered dispatch companies important because they could create economies of scale—essentially, a larger pool of affiliated drivers makes it easier to match bookings with available taxis and provide a better service.

The particularly interesting part is that Goodbody identified three things needed to achieve those economies of scale:

A critical mass of drivers willing to affiliate.
Consumers recognising that larger dispatch companies could provide higher levels of service.
Incentives for drivers to affiliate with dispatch companies.

So, if your question is “Did Goodbody recommend that taxi drivers should be tied/aligned to a dispatcher?”, I would say not as a compulsory licensing requirement. Rather, it saw greater affiliation with dispatch operators as economically beneficial, particularly because larger dispatch networks could improve utilisation and service.

There's also an important later finding: the 2011 review of the taxi market, looking back at Goodbody, specifically said that economies of scale were increasing for drivers who had access to larger dispatching companies.

DID THE APPS SOLVE THIS read it carefully ...Smart roof signs

Goodbody discussed the proposed new vehicle standards, including requirements concerning roof signs and the information that should be displayed on them. The broader objective was to make taxis more readily identifiable and to provide passengers with useful information about the vehicle/driver.

However, I wouldn't attribute a specific “smart roof sign” system to Goodbody without qualification. The detailed electronic/intelligent roof-sign concept appears to have been part of the subsequent regulatory/industry reforms, rather than a central Goodbody recommendation.

The regulations that followed did standardise roof signs, including the licence number, area identification and, where applicable, dispatch/booking contact details and wheelchair-accessible identification.

On-board CCTV

This is different. CCTV was not one of the principal Goodbody recommendations in the 2009 economic review. The report was primarily concerned with the economics and regulation of the SPSV sector—licensing, supply/demand, vehicle standards, dispatching, driver incomes, accessibility and service quality.

So if you're looking at a list of proposals that includes “smart roof signs + CCTV + dispatcher affiliation + wheelchair accessibility”, I suspect you're looking at a broader set of taxi-reform proposals from around 2009–2011, rather than recommendations contained exclusively in the Goodbody report.
