What's a "ELON MUSK ROCKET" ?

Kinda sounds like Hal's imaginary Flute !
Google "Tesla/Rocket/Mars/Musk/Autonomous vehicles".
"So look into the mirror, do you recognise someone, is it who you always thought you would become, when you were young?"

Elon Musk is CEO of SpaceX. He recently boasted that a "fully expendable" version of it's latest rocket, Falcon Heavy, would have a launch cost of $150 million ... could be setting the tone for asking the shareholders to dig a bit deeper?

Whistle is dead and buried killed off before it got off the ground .The team behind it couldnt arrange to feed the Ducks in Stephens Green .Launched a crap app before it was ready or they had drivers or customers .

It has 2,000 drivers but it doesn't work on all mobile networks so it's always going to have less customers than mytaxi. For something set up on a low budget by a bloke with no managerial or technical expertise it hasn't done too bad and may well become a significant player in the PPJ dispatch market in due course. Don't forget Hail0 invested over US$100,000,000 and hadn't a pot to piss in when it was bailed out by mytaxi/Daimler.

Whistle is offering to buy any Taxi base in Eire fer 1,000Euro.

Anybody make any sense of that ?

Is it just another gimmick ? surely no taxi base owner would sell his business fer just 1K.

Technically, it's greatly improved... at least in theory. Customers seem to have got used to the new interface and there have been significant improvements to the driver app. In app navigation makes the job a lot easier (particularly for those who don't have great navigational skills or good command of the ENGLISH language) but it's not perfect by any means. The fact that it doesn't facilitate U Turns or recognise access to bus corridors creates problems with run in times given to clients. For example, I accepted a job from the Gate Theatre to Santry last night as I was idle on Berkley Rd. The initial run in displayed as 3 mins on my app but changed to 7 mins when I drove onto Frederick St North. Obviously the same information was given to the client as he, understandably, cancelled at that point. On balance the lower tech straight line calculations used by Hail0 probably worked better in practice. mytaxi's approach, while technically vastly superior, strives for a level of perfection that isn't achievable given inherent constraints in the real world.

There's still a plethora of relatively minor irritations with the driver app that ought to be addressed e.g. the mickey mouse fare input process and the long winded feedback routines for claiming no contact fees, etc.
