Did the taxithingey in the review not say if you drive for a living you must inform your primary employer that you also drive a taxi so they can make sure you comply with working time directives for drivers .Obviousy a postalsorter or soldier who was not in the Trans Corp would not be effected .

Ya don't want some driver nodding off in your multi-million euro tram.I'm surprised insurance companies haven't declined policies to the double-jobbing truck  truck/bus drivers yet. Those crashes are never cheap to settle.

The door decals never stopped the double jobbers like everyone thought they would at the time

Bagatelle....

I remember that Summerhill in Dublin,
And the Taxis they smelled like hell,
All because of the double-jobbing hungry cunt drivers,
And them eatin' their lunches at the rhythm of the tram bell.............

John I believe you are right.if memory serves me right, there was a requirement on people in other driving jobs such as bus, truck, etc etc positions to inform their primary employers if they intended double jobbing. How effectively that could be monitored is anyone's guess though

I'd say it discouraged a few.Even hungry fukkers hate being called hungry fukkers.

There were a few lads doing limo work in their taxis that can't anymore so there's a that part. The main reason for stickers was to create some uniformity in the fleet.Blokes like Eclass making the rest of us look shit in our Avensises and Skodas.Stick a yellow stripe on the taxi and we all look shite.Same reason kids have school uniforms.

Door stickers never really bothered me as I don't care what the car looks like.I've never let a bus/luas pass me because I don't like the look of it.That would be silly.

If I remember correctly, the working time directive cannot be applied to people in self employed positions,  as they are free to do unlimited hours as they wish, but I think some of our reps at the time tried to make a case that the taxi industry should be considered their primary employment, and their nine to five jobs should be accessed collectively for the purposes of pushing them over the working time limit

A taxi licence IS NOT a licence to work So even though you inform your employer that you do a bit in the taxi .It would be hard to decide how much of a bit unless the meter was read or programmed to switch on and off after your alotted working time availability .As the Rodent once said which would you prefer an 80% full time driver fleet with 20% casual or would you prefer to compete for work with every driver for every job .If I could get a Part time job with no work involved I would take it in a heartbeat and only work the taxi at the weekend .Ive gotten to the point where the romance has gone out of this job .

I'd say the reason for the door stickers was because the full time drivers were giving it to Alan Kelly in the neck over double jobbers.in fairness to Kelly ,I think he had some sympathy with the full timers at the time, but as he explained he could not legally stop them, but I believe he thought he was doing the next  best thing by introducing door stickers unfortunately they didn't work, because there are still as many double jobbing Hungary cunts as ever

I used to dislike them now I feel sorry for them.Any man who needs two wages to pay the bills has bigger problems in their life.Besides they usually work when I'm off so we need drivers to bring us home at night.

When you think about it,the double jobbers could be a factor in why our insurance costs are so high. A man,or woman ,who works another job,is bound to be suffering from fatigueand therefore more likely to be involved in an accident through tiredness. This could well be the reason our costs are so high, due to the number of claims.so apart from taking our livlehoods, they are probably costing us on insurance as well

There's a cunt that i often meet while driving up the M1 at the end of a night.....slows down to a point of almost stopping and then burying the pedal into the carpet....i would imagine he's falling alseep.....he recently changed from the Avensis to a Prius but i haven't seen him in a while.....i didn't see any articles about an upturned Prius in a ditch on the M1 so i take it he's still breathing.

the solvency directive 2 from brussels is the reason why insurance ballooned up.
insurance companies were ordered to build up huge cash reserves to prevent the need for them to be bailed out in the future. essentially a license to double or triple the profits they were already making with the stroke of a pen.

There does be a hugely snigificant increase in the number of taxis at the weekend ,I suspect a lot of this also has to do with drivers coming from the country (in some cases illegally) to operate in Dublin,as well as the double jobbers
