I think it's fair to say, that the work load has greatly improved.tgat being the case, why do you need cab companies ? All you really need to do is change the mind set of punters who STILL ring these scumbags, and let them know that they no longer need to ring, just come out to the street and hail.save yourself 100 plus a week  the punters won't be long getting used to this way,and at the same time you can put the exploiting scumbags out of business.i heard recently ,that in addition to the weekly freight, they also also take a percentage of each job. Fukking outrageous

Card facilities are a big plus for cab and app companies. Especially during the day when I'm driving the suits around.

Most drivers have card facilities but pretend we don't.If you work for Vinny or Mytaxi etc you can't pretend so easily.Everthing always comes back around to tax.

No I don't like Vinnie's setup.I have Mytaxi app that I use a bit.I have a Sumup reader that I use sometimes if the job is right.Business customers, and now regular taxi cusomters expect card facilities. If we all took them the apps wouldn't be taking all the work away from the ranks during the day shift. The suits dont like keeping receipts for weeks. Sometimes they lose them.

Some companies like VIP taxis give discounts on the taxi invoice at the end of the month from drivers subs. Matheson/MOPs on the quays benifit greatly from this arrangement.

Well they should be a problem for a FULL TIME driver, but I thought it would have put a lot of double jobbers off I don't know how anyone can possibly say there is a shortage of taxis in Dublin  particularly at the weekend, the number of taxis in Dublin is mind boggling.tgere are STILL far to many taxis, and those greedy fukking bastard radio companies seem to have the ear of the NTA I just don't know why indigenous drivers won't revolt against them for trying to get more drivers into the industry, and reduce the work even MORE.greedy bastards KEARNS,KELLY EBBS ,ETC

To be fair, drivers' unions also highlight a "shortage" of drivers. I'm not sure how they ascertain their data but the dispatch firms obviously know whether they struggle to cover work at peak times or not. mytaxi is by far the largest dispatch firm and the most proactive as far as recruiting new drivers is concerned.
If it doesn't have a roof sign and door stickers it's not a taxi.
