It strikes me that it is often the weekly communicants who lose their common humanity and the capacity to walk in the shoes of their Jesus.

A recently widowed woman with two young sons manages to make it to Ireland in the hope of a better life  for her her children, survival is our strongest instinct. The children have a chance of a better life, and are highly respected by their community, all 22000 of them, and so a rule is flexed on humanitarian grounds. That you may never need help where it can be found..

In one year the population of Africa grew by 30 million.

How many people from Africa do you believe we should allow into our country ,

In general the existing rules should be followed, clearly we cannot support an infinite number of people.

In this case a recently widowed woman, by her own strong desire to survive, and provide a future for her children made it to Ireland, by her own ingenuity and determination. On humanitarian grounds on a case, by case basis it was clearly reasonable to flex the rules. Perhaps Nonso may one day be Taoiseach, or discover a cure for cancer to repay the country's kindness. The sooner humanity evolves to recognise our common humanity, stops making weapons, feeds the hungry, eliminates borders the better. My support for simple acts of humanity do not originate in religion but evolutionary biology which has proven that we succeed better as a species when we cooperate, accept our shared existance, and the resources of the planet. Who would want to see a 14 year old boy, in his most formative years pulled out of education where he seems to be thriving,  to be sent back to one of the most corrupt and backward countries on earth. Moral values don't need religion for their existance.

Maybe in 10 years time Nonso's tax wil be funding many retiree's pensions. Unless he becomes a taxi driver whose taxes are probably just about funding the pension of the cleaner in the Dept of Finance.

I think we've all been watching too many you tube videos.

I can only speak for meself, Devil........I read most of what I post with the odd youtube ref thrown in, but everything I post comes from corroborated sources. Read John Perkins', The Economic Hitman yourself at some stage....this guy was sent in to destroy countries on behalf of American corporations....scary shit.........Bolivia and others stripped bare of their assets.

The odd Anonymous video keeps the spies secure in the knowledge that I'm a harmless fool...........muhahaha!
