One to be weary of is when a female flags you and a male appears out of the shadows, that's one of the travellers favourite tricks.

Traveller wimmin are generally easy to spot.

And drug heroin / meth crack cocaine scum....
Come the revolution...... Correction camps / communal naked showers, smokin chimneys,,,   an the smell of bacon
Ide rather be a poor master than a rich servant

Lives have to be lost or burgers have to need collecting before they'll leave their stations up above in Dublin. The only time the gangs of youths on "the patch" in Darndale, for example, get any attention is when the Public Order Unit is drafted in from Drogheda.
If it doesn't have a roof sign and door stickers it's not a taxi.

Most of my clients have Dublin accents. We didn't get a great look at the rider in the video but he sounded reasonably coherent and if wearing normal clothing standing outside a bar or whatever there would be no reason to refuse service. Even travellers can scrub up well and catch you out if they're away from their normal haunts. One to be weary of is when a female flags you and a male appears out of the shadows, that's one of the travellers favourite tricks.
Skanks are doing this in Ballymun.  Female reasonably dressed up, but when you pull over (preferably 50 metres past) then you notice the brass monkey trot, followed by the potential male assailant.

I'm wondering what is the best way to get out of a situation if someone pulls a knife on you, sitting behind. While I wouldn't be too happy handing over my earnings(although most of work is account), I really don't want to be handing over my €500 phone.

why would you work with a phone worth 500 euro? you may as well have 500 euro in cash sitting on your dash. my phone cost me 80 euro about 2 years ago, its a smart phone, and i use it while working for loads of things but it is worthless to some scum bag who might be thinking about robbing me, they wouldn't bother robbing it.

you are only asking for trouble using an expensive phone while working as a taxi driver.

Even prisoners get a bigger space to live in!!

The driver and passengers in black cabs are completely segregated, even the doors lock..so no escaping...until the fare is paid.

Well, I get an upgrade every two years on my current phone contract, my bill is €55 a month, and this includes the phone. If I had to replace it, it would cost €500.
No offence but your phone must not be any good for €80 teo years ago.

my phone is a Huawei smart phone, i make calls on it, send texts, use google maps, use sum up,browse the net etc never had a problem with it, it is a perfectly good phone for operating as a taxi driver. there is no need for an i phone or other expensive phone.

im with eir pre pay, unlimited calls to landlines and mobiles anytime, 15 gb data and unlimited texts for 30 euro a month.

Cubots are decent enough but, as with all the Chinese phones compared to Samsung or Apple, they have lower quality cameras and slower internet on WIFI. You'd have to be off your rocker to buy an Huawei now that their alleged threats to Global security have been revealed.
