Ahh jaysus, 18 years after Justice Murphy made his high court decision, it`s now hitting other licenced business. Wonder if anyone will make the leap to licenced premises.

I know a bloke who rents one. Is that, strictly speaking, allowed?

The named driver option was removed a couple of years back so I`d imagine the bloke is pullin yer chain.

Non transferable.
Yes they are..
Retiring drivers are allowed to pass their Taxi Permit to their son or daughter
(provided they hold a PSV license)

I`ve heard tell of such arrangements in the past alright. Apparently some genius has tabled a notion that surrendered or suddenly unused permits should be re issued to a newly instated / existing waiting list in a transparent manner. Can`t see it going anywhere as this genius has a long history of common sense outbursts.

It`s quite possible that he chose to remain a named driver on the rented permit instead of availing of the chance to get his own permit at the time.
