hi all :-\ :-\ :-\
i am thinking of entering the taxi business
im getting old and two old to be getting up and down from scaffolding every day not to mention the weather
its time to think of an end game
 i used to work with the public behind the bar when i was younger and always enjoyed it..meeting people ect ect
and i would be my own boss i could come and go as i please
and not to piss all of you off .......but it ant that hard :D but i do understand ye work long and unsociable hours which  i wouldn't mind..im a hard worker
but and here is the but
i heard the stories and read the threads on here about insurance
my insurance history is 20 years driving as a name driver..i have no claim bonus...notting
last time i checked they wanted 3 grand for a every day policy
they want there blood for all the years i got away with been a named driver
so
what do ye think..??????
any chance..?

Start at the beginning try to pass the entrance exam the SPSV driving licence .

Your 20+ years driving means nothing, you'll start at the bottom again so I'd reckon about 5k upwards for your first insurance, good luck inanyways.

My advice is don’t bother, look for a promotion in your current job, something indoorsy. We still have to deal with the weather in th taxi. There’s this walking to work everyday shit, then there’s the weight lifting we do, lifting luggage into the boot, in the pissing of rain.

Insurance is the biggest prohibitive factor...it used to be the knowledge test.

With a full car NCB,and no pp,I got insurance last year for 7k.
With no NCB in your own name,who knows?

It's about 3 or 4 times more expensive to insure a new taxi driver compared to ten years ago.But earning potential has probably tripled so it's not as bad as it sounds.
