i have been saying it for years, it is insurance cost that is stopping a lot of people entering the taxi game, if it was 2 or 3,000 euro it would be ok but 7-12,000 euro is a non runner for most people who would like to set up a taxi service. but the insurance companies are running riot here the last few years, there is supposed to be a rule that prohibits insurers asking for so much money for insurance but nothing is been done about it, i was quoted 12,000 euro(third party fire and theft) for my first year and the irish insurance federation allowed RSA to give me such a quote.
shane ross was asked to help me, he rang me and said his office would try to help, he or his office didnt do a thing. i managed to get a quote of 6,500 in the end from AXA but through no help of the insurance federation or ross.
