I wonder do any of you radio company subscriber's come under the terms of the new memo which is to be brought to cabinet tomorrow ? It is basically a proposal by minister Regina Doherty  to address people who have been forced by their respective employers to declare themselves to be self employed, when in actual fact they are employees of that company.this is been done apperently because it saves the employer millions on PSRI contributions.as most drivers fall under the category of being forced to declare to be self employed, but who are actually employees of the radio scumbags ( at least the radio scumbags believe you are their employees as is evident by the way they treat you,) I just wondered how will this effect you ?
I am self-employed, I am the CEO, Treasurer, Cleaning lady and Spokesperson fer myself. I was with a base fer 9 years and really enjoyed it there, the problem with a base is you are kinda stuck with what they offer you, if you refuse too many jobs, then you get blacklisted fer the day, with MyTaxi they offer you jobs via the app, you can refuse as many as you like, the App don't give a Shite, if you don't want it then someone else will take it.
We are SELF-EMPLOYED !

Nothing. I think it was a general warning sent to all drivers who work for the firm. It centred on passing on parking fees on Zone 18 jobs.
I didn't get that down here.
Ken MYT probably recon its unlikely you come to big smoke for work

Ken read my post again I questioned whether RADIO COMPANY subscribers are self employed or not,and by your answer you just confirmed they are not,as i've always said.the fact that a driver is blacklisted to use your own term, for refusing work, clearly indicates that although a driver employes these scumbags to provide him with work, the fact that he is penalised for refusing it,means he is NOT self employed.my definition of self employed means you have total control of your own business to operate in any way you se fit.the fa t that a leech from a radio company is controking your actions can hardly be considered self employment

Your kinda right in what you say DM, but still we are all self employed fer tax purposes, your gonna have some job convincing the taxman that you are an employee of a base company.
Also I don't work fer a base, not that I have anything against them, but fer financial purposes my working hours are better suited to street or PPJ app work.
With the new 24 hour bus service down here even the mid week 'Jungle' hour of 2am to 3am has disappeared as the ranks are now full 24/7 mid week, just last night on a short 3 hour shift (12.30am to 3.30am) I got no job off the street but 8 app jobs (all with PUC) + 2 Scrub payments.

I have to say again,I am SPECIFICALLY talking about radio companies.where a driver is being directed by a third party to wear a uniform, offer discounts, accept disciplinary action of the kind you have described, can hardly be considered to be self employed, unless the definition of self employment has changed

Your frustrations about the radio companies are way OTT DM, they are out to make a crust just the same as us, I doubt any of the base owners are multi-millionaires. If you really needed some one to hate, then try the Banks or the Pension companies or your phone provider because they are all multi-Billionaires and most likely you pay in to them all !

Fer me 'Hating' takes up much too much energy, I prefer the Simple Life, Live and Let Live ! (except uber rideshare).

I was chatting to a recruitment guy from MT the other day and told him about my various problems with the Ambassador system and the ranking up.He says others have been complaining too. There might be a review on the way as it's proving to be counterproductive..

MFH hope your right, simple solution would be to reduce the Sticker/Sticker guys fees and let us all have a fair playing field when jobs pop up

The Mytaxi branding will be ditched soon so they have an opportunity to change the setup.I find myself avoiding priority as it sends the app nuts and unusable. The lick arses will protest no doubt.

DM its like MYT if we/they(Radio Drivers) have an issue with our masters , its like "Shit or get off the Pot" , they can just block us any time they wish if we miss-behave, not sure wheither that makes us employees/employers or just dogs bodies.
At the end of the day we only have ourselves to blame

stc my definition of self employment is a person who controls the business in which they operate.total control over all decisions on how to operate that business, and complete discretion regarding its operation.now if that same business owner ( the driver in this case) wishes to employ a radio company to provide work to him/ her for a fee,its hardly the place of that employee (the radio company)  to direct how that driver should operate his business.the only function of these people is the provision of work, for a set weekly fee nothing more, nothing less.but if it is the case that this company is exceeding its remit by directing, and indeed disciplining drivers, and if drivers are prepared to accept such interferences in their businesses, then they can hardly classify themselves as self employed, and the source of such interferences ie the radio companies, should be subject to the full rigours,of industrial law,and the provision on appropriate contracts of employment etc etc

Agree entirely DM, but are self employed drivers prepared to stand alongside a self-employed driver who has met the rigours of MYT/Radio GaGa ? I don't think so , at the end of the day unfortunately we are self-employed and probably don't give a fcuk about the guy in the taxi next to us. It's call The Rat Race/Survival.
