Revolut
« on: July 23, 2019, 12:34:30 am »
I decided to open a Revolut account and noticed from it's address book interaction that many of my colleagues/competitors already have one. Do any of you get your Free Now wages paid into it or is that possible?

How do you lodge cash into it? I've only put a tenner into mine so far but I thought you could only add funds by card or bank/personal transfer. Main attraction for me was better (net of commission) exchange rates and it's an option for people to pay fares, it seems quite popular among younger folk... but I haven't used it yet.

My Chungwan opened one a few weeks ago before going on her foreign holiday, all her mates recommended it to her as it has the very best exchange/commission rates.

Quick tip... on demand exchange rates on Revolut are padded at weekends so effectively include a surcharge to cover possible market moves while markets are closed. Hence it makes sense to convert what you intend spending during a weekend before close of business on the Friday. You can hold money in any currency and when you spend it will take the money from the relevant currency balance you hold before converting on demand.

Will the Government charge you a yearly fee for holding a revolute card like they do on CCs and other cards ?

Why not, because it's UK based?

Duty on debit cards is max €5 (€2.50 if it's not ATM enabled) now anyway, hardly a big deal.

Ya foreign bank.
I have the N26 and that’s based in Germany so no charge.

The brother has that one. I think that's a real bank whereas Revolut isn't, maybe a better choice for forex, particularly if you want to maintain a significant balance and/or dabble in currency trading, but doesn't seem to have the "social media" appeal of Revolut?

Card arrived the other day.

SumUp won’t allow you to put a foreign bank account in for payments.  >:(
Uber has allowed me to change it but I dunno if they will approve it
I haven’t tried with HMTFN

Uber won’t allow it either as you need a statement with all the details on it
