Until recently I thought that we were at balance point. Now it looks like we are back to oversupply most of the time.

I know a bloke who knows a bloke that started renting a taxi about a year ago. He's been back around his old job looking for extra night shifts in the Takeaway.Still has the rental.

So he's doing two jobs to pay the bills.

Yeha but at least he's getting fed in the takeaway

The Céad Míle Fáilte thread in the members lounge (http://intaxi.org/forum/index.php?topic=9128.0) lists new drivers as they are associated with vehicles. It's quite astounding how many foreign drivers invest in the so-called "naan vans" without any experience of driving a taxi... allegedly!

It would be a foolish man that would hand out 20 k for a new car now considering the amount of taxis there are,and to think the NTA were actually looking for another a while ago

https://www.nationaltransport.ie/taxi/publications-and-regulations/statistics-and-legislation/vehicle-licences-county-and-category-31st-january-2019/
11,267 PSV vehicles in Dublin as of 31 Jan 2020.  Includes 25 hacks and 500+ limos.

I see they've revealed the methodology used to allocate national licences to counties, never noticed that before:
Quote
*a vehicle is licensed to operate anywhere in the country: it is only the licensed driver that has a geographical area restriction. The county here is based on the licence holder’s address.

@ Stephen, we discussed all this in lenght a few months back when we tracked down the Monaghan/Dublin driver in the Lost Property section fer some scrote who never came back to us.
