Dropped a friend out to the airport this morning .Refitted my screen .I am taking it out due to Social distancing .Like Ken said you cannot communicate with the customer and my car is to small so the seats are adjusted to far forward .Uncomfortable and probably unsafe driving position .There is another safety issue .If I pick up Bronco or Punch Happy and they tell me where they are going and I cant hear them it could lead to friction .Masks will be optional if the passenger requires me to wear one I will.

"Taking it out due to social distancing"!!!

Bit of a paradox there.

So, youre taking a chance in getting Covid, despite all evidence showing that taxi drivers in particular are high risk of contracting it.

Theres a myth out there that, most of the population that get it will only have "mild" symptoms" and  "young people wont get it"

Both,are completely wrong.

Everyone, can get it.

I dont think there is the slightest chance of the NTA  making screens compulsory, particularly since they are the ones that said they offer no protection against the virus.not only that,I doubt they have the right to ake them compulsory since a very small percentage of drivers have them

They cannot make the screens mandatory without a standard or certification, they'll have to go with masks

customers however seem to expect them, and a large portion of FN bookings require them

Taxi driving is a social occupation we usually communicate with the customers sometimes to receive instruction or direction. The screen presents a social barrier .It dosent suit my modus operandi .

I've had no trouble conversing with passengers, maybe your plastic is a bit thick (like yourself) or that seal you have around it is a tad OTT and not really required

So has any of your wise and wonderful taxi people installed a screen yet?

If so, can you give a recommendations?

Thanks in advance.
I don't think FN offer screens to non-FN drivers, there original offer stated that the screen was worth 100 Euro but would be discounted to 50 fer ordinary FN plebs and 25 fer ambassadors.

With the light weight FN screen you can still converse with a passenger but by and large most stay silent rather than talk through a screen.
The One problem I did have with the screen was when reversing by night, there was a terrible glare off it fer the rear mirror view, but the simple solution I found was just to turn off your headlights whilst reversing.

Because they say "Taxi with screen: on the prebook page, i rarely do any live jobs, I just try and fill any gaps I might have with their pre-booked jobs if they have any that suit

Thanks, I just checked my personal customer app and that option is not available in Cork.... Yet.

Did you have to sign the FN Pledge to get FN Screened jobs ?
