Watty .We have a Government that is disfunctional .You are right the DEp of Agg approved the chemicles but its up to the Department of Education to issue a warning for schools ,Didnt hear any warning for any other venues where this toxic chemical is used like HOSPITALS or other Workplaces .I wonder why whos agenda is being played out there .Leo is minister for Industry he mouths off about everything except business which is dying on its arse .The early School leaver informed us last Sunday on the Radio that we were going back into level 5 before it was actually agreed by cabinet .If we were to go back that was a Health issue not a third level education issue Donnolly the Dickhead should of informed us .A doctor Houlihan who was in charge when Womens Cancer tests were fucked up is now in charge of Covid and is calling for fines for people, that is a Justice issue nothing to do with an unelected Medical Doctor .Who the Fuck is in charge .The Generals or the soldiers .The First Lockdown only Leo the Taoiseach and The Early School Leaver Minister for health appeared on TV telling us what the story was now it seems to be a free for all with some Ministers looking for the limelight while others are running for cover .Apart from Mick from Cork and Michael the Money man from Cork and the Dosser Donnolly can you name the other FF ministers .Same with FG we all know the Mouth but who are the other FG ministers .There is nobody in Charge Watty handing out Covid coin and a Double week on the Dole isint going to work .If we dont reopen on 1st of December people will not listen to any of our Politicians they just wont trust them none of them are doing their job.

I agree with you that nobody is in charge.  But it's largely the same around the world.  This virus is new and nobody really knows how to manage entire populations.  Well, maybe China!  Every country is going to make mistakes in the own peculiar way.  Each country is trying to keep their economy going while minimising the number of people dying.  I wouldn't like to be making those "live or die" decisions.

This hand gel thing is weird though.  Maybe it's because kids would be using it multiple times a day and the Dept was worried about getting sued when little Johnny got dermatitis?

AFAIK, all hand gels use methanol even though it's potentially dangerous and can blind you if you drink it.  I think it's a neuro-toxin as well.  Pre-virus, some hospitals had to change their hand gel from the toilets because alcoholics were stealing it and dying!  You can drink ethanol (beer, whiskey) but it's more expensive.  Probably need a special licence to make ethanol as well.

Watty .Look at the Contradictions you can buy food but you cant buy clothes .Tesco Liffey Valley sell both in the same Shop .There just dosent seem to be any logic to it If somebody goes into a pub or restaurant for a sambo you need to get contact details but if somebody gets into a taxi and travels the length or breath of Ireland nobody knows same if you take a bus or train and travel no record but you sit down to eat or drink and you must leave your contact details .They say Traceability is important yet they dont make it mandatory that you download the app to your smartphone and fine you if you dont .I have absolutely no confidence in the strategy it wont/cant work .We should of gotten Mick the President on the telly telling us to reignite the spirit of Cucullen and Ferdia and the DeDannin or some other Great mythical hero and copp on Mask up Wash us stay apart togeather tried to recreate the spirit of 1988 Italia when we were all in it togeather .If and I think it will fail then whats next ?We have to learn how to cope with this shit running away and hiding wont solve the problem .If there is no vaccine by mid 2021 the government cant continue to pay money to everybody then they will have to do what they should be doing now instructing us how to minimize our risk but by then it will be to late our Debt will of changed how we live for a generation or two .The financial fallout from this with all the costs to the state and society are being ignored for short term gameplay .I look on what is happening as like a game of poker the turn of each card is a game changer and Governments both here and in other places are playing the board forgetting there are more cards to come.What im seeing is Governments in Power trying to hang on to that power at any cost .In the beginning this looked like it might be Chemical Warfare now its looking like Psychological Warfare  so that asks the Question Are we fighting the wrong enemy ?

Serious concerns around Covid testing have been raised after it was revealed that the National Virus Reference Laboratory (NVRL) will not be able to process swabs this weekend.

Sinn Féin TD Louise O'Reilly told the Dáil that she was "very disturbed" to learn that staffing shortages mean Covid testing will not take place.

She said we have been told "repeatedly" that testing is absolutely essential "that it is a vital tool in our battle with this virus".

"I was very disturbed yesterday to receive a notification that was circulated in the National Virus Reference Lab, an urgent notification in relation to Covid testing at the NVRL due to unavoidable staff shortages."

The notification states that the NVRL will not be able to provide any Sars-CovV-2 on the weekend of the 24, 25 and 26 of October, and the weekend of October 31 to November 1. It apologies for the late notice and any inconvenience this may cause.

Ms O'Reilly asked Health Minister Stephen Donnelly if he was aware of this and called him to outline the measures that have been taken to ensure tests are processed.

"I want to ask what efforts have been made to address the short staffing, the fact that they're short staffed in the National Virus Reference Lab I think is very concerning but I want to know what it is that is being done to ensure that that issue is going to be addressed and that the staff are going to be available," she said.

She said we have already seen the "shambles" with tracing but said "testing is absolutely essential".

It comes as a hand sanitiser product used in schools and the healthcare system has been recalled due to “possible public health concerns”.

Controversy erupted on Liveline this afternoon over the HSE’s decision to remove the word “woman” from information about cervical cancer to replace it with “people with a cervix.”

A caller to the RTÉ Radio One show said that the removal of the word would mean people with limited English and disadvantaged groups might struggle to find the information they needed when looking for the word “woman.”  The HSE has defended the removal of the word, with the its cervical cancer information service saying it aimed to make the programme accessible and inclusive of everyone in the population and to reduce health inequalities where possible, according to the Irish Times.  HSE communication guidelines advise the use of “gender-neutral text wherever possible” while advice was also taken from the World Health Organisation and Government documents on the use of gender neural language, the service said.
