At a Nifty you won't be going too far wrong, but on reading the online reviews there is a birra work in it, obviousely it comes with instructions, but a few things the seller doesen't tell you is that;

It needs a towel underneath it as it tends to leak a small tad.
It needs very cold refrigarated water (ice cubes not recommended and don't fit in the filling thing).
The seemingly 'Whisper' noise that it produces is seemingly a lot louder than a Whisper.

Fer a Nifty I ordered one and will let yiz know how I get on.

Perhaps it's female, or elderly.

If I was earning the big money like Ken I'd be spending the extra for a small aircon unit.I was seriously considering putting ones that you see in holiday apartments in me gaff.Few grand at most.But it would be a good investment.

Something like this...

I collected my Chillmax air from Woodies this morning;

Fer a Nifty it's OK, it's small about 7 inches square all round but it does blow cool (not dry) air as opposed to an oscillating fan which only blows warm air at you. Now it ain't gonna be cooling any room big or small, but if'n your sat watching telly or at a computer screen then if you put it about a meter away from you then it is quite comforting.

As fer set-up, it was probably the easiest electrical device that I ever set-up,
Plug it in, wet the filter, pour in cold water and turn on, that's it !

I haven't tried the recommended filter in the freezer bit yet, or added the un-recommended ice in to the water tray, but I will try them too. I think I will try crushed ice as opposed to ice cubes.

As fer the noise level, it is only a fraction (20%) of the noise level that an oscillating fan makes.

Fer me Sins I did my good deed fer the year in Woodies this morning, there was this old fella (80+) in front of me in the queue asking the chungwan fer directions from Woodies to Atkins, Cork South East to Cork South West, the chungwan hadn't a clue so she called over her more mature male supervisor to help telling him that the man was from out of town, the more mature male supervisor (which I could hear) gave the old man instructions that even I could not understand, he directed the old man on to the Magic roundabout (with multiple lanes, traffic lights and 10 entry and exit routes) and then on to a similar Wilton roundabout, Etc.

The old fella was nodding and smiling as he was being told the directions but I knew he hadn't a clue about what he was hearing, I waited outside fer him fer a minute, out he came and I said to him;
"Are ya OK, have ya got it ?",
"Yes, I think so",
"Are you sure, or are you puggled ?",
"I'm not really sure where to go",
"That's my Taxi there (pointing at my cab), follow me and I will bring you there",
"Thanks Mister, that be great".

So I led him (at 30 Fookin kmph) all the way out to the Straight road and in to Atkins, I pulled a U-turn straight away in the car park so as to avoid any payment, the old fella rolls down his window and sez;
"Thank you so, so much", as I drive off.
