FFS I'm after talking a load of bollox about hybrid power train systems for nothing....See if you can get the rubber cap off so it can dry out but it will go again when you least expect it..The joys of Renault ownership.

Its parked that long I had to give the Handbrake a WD 40 infusion .In Comparison to Satins Wheelbarrow that Octavia broke me heart and pocket the Renault has been Ok .no major Problems (So Far )

Good stuff John hope it keeps going well. Most of my hybrid battery issues were caused by leaving the car parked up.It likes to he worked more than I like to work.

how do the pads last that long.
do you drive like an aulwan or is it sumtin to do with the fancy breakin system.

Energy can't be created or destroyed....
In all things ..

In yur diesel the "work done" to achieve a state of kinetic energy is done by yur engine tru heat  ...   to decelerate yur kinetic energy  its  converted to heat tru yur  brake discs and if you use yur gears converted to heat tru compression in the engine cylinders out the exhaust...this is wasted energy

In the prius ...the motor instead of convertin  the kinetic energy into wasted heat ... converts
the kinetic  energy into electric energy then chemical energy stored  in the battery as potential energy
To be used wen yu accelerate again..
But if yu drive like granny ...yuo actually  can reduce yur fuel costs significantly if you understand the physics ...all cars operate under the same laws of motion . The prius just got a bit closer to perpetual motion kinda sort  of ting ....

The less time you use  both the accelerator  and braking pedal ...the less fuel you will use
Wen autonomous vehicles are the norm ....the energy saved will be astronomical cause apes drivers drive like apes ...

That's alright Octy it's probably out of warranty now.First things to go might only be a wheel bearing or something simple in a few years.Ya should easily get the full ten years from it if you decide to keep it.

On mine Octy the service is just oil and filter.Air and pollen filters. My plugs are due every 60000 miles. They're a bit dearer as they're iridium plugs so can probably go even longer than 60000.

The gearbox has fluid that can be changed.I used to do mine every 50000 miles as a precaution but they're unlikely to fail so I'm not too concerned. For your own peace of mind it might be worth checking out.

Your hybrid battery has a filter I believe so keep it clean or replace it if it's cheap to do so.

If I look up my service records I've spent very little on it overall.

Best investment you ever made I'd say..I think they're at least 37k new.The Corolla I'm looking at is 33400 for the estate model with cloth seats.

I only got new plugs at 125k km ...accordin to the dealer plugs change are 120 km on this model ....think they only charged me 80 for them ...
Anyway it's a great car ...
I'm not able for breakdowns or car lettin me down anymore ...it sends me into a depression ....an the octavia was costing me alot in maintenance an the flywheelsgoing put me into 3 tow trucks in its lifetime ..
It the prius  really was worth every penny ...hopefully it'll continue to be trouble free ...

i'm platin up a toyota ebola at the moment.
i notice she makes loadsa whirrin and whizzin noises especially when slowin to a stop.
because it's a hybrid is it like a prius with regard to the longevity of the bulbs and brake pads.

Best of luck DMG.You'll hear the inverter coolant pump under the bonnet on my older hybrid when stopped.

The newer yokes make a spaceship sound on the outside through a speaker to alert pedestrians that you're coming through.I think it can be turned off.

You should see the fuel savings straight away.

Definably the brake pads ...an most likely the bulbs ...the only ting I've changed is wiper blades

does the fancy brake recharging set up actually pull the car to a stop rather than traditional brake friction.
when i was fondlin her at the dealer i noticed there was'nt the slightest hint of a lip on any of the discs. perfectly smooth.

Yes DMG it feels like it's coasting gently to slow down. It's not harsh at all.Mostly done by the magnets in the leccy motor.

Seen a chap working with the space saver on the front the other day.I couldn't do that shit.

I have the Prius ten years and only changed the second of my original headlight bulbs the other day.I'm fairly sure that was one of the factory bulbs and it's a 2006 car.It wasn't easy but changed it in 15 minutes. You'd need the hands of a toddler to do it faster.

that's incredible. how does the bulbs last so long.
i don't know if its a quirk unique to my 2012 avensis but the two headlight bulbs always blew in unison.
they either go at the exact same time or one will blow and the other will go the next day.
pain in the nuts because they were 20 quid a pop each. 40 quid each time to do the both.
bought 20 bulbs for a wunner off ebay from a chink fella about 3 year ago.
delira i was. only in the last week or so have i exhausted the supply.
That was a major problem with the Avensisssssss. My brand new 03 Avensis had both headlights replaced twice for the bulb holders melting, and even after that I rarely got more than 3 months from a bulb. The same H7 bulbs rarely went in the subsequent  07 E220
Trump has called for help, so I'm on a plane heading for The Strait of Hormuz, talk soon.
