« on: September 13, 2022, 09:20:26 am »
Going to do me 3 hour shift last night but I only had one headlight bulb blew as I started the engine .I didnt go to work .Dont want to be driving around with Nodger or Willier in me car smelling of Hippy Cabbage and get stopped by the Gards the lads might not be best pleased if I draw attention to them .How many of you would stop working if your lights stopped working ?

The Occi bulbs were easy to change you need a box of bits from lidils middle isle to change the renault .I just changed a bulb last week and never bought a few spares I usually have a few in me first aid kit .I would not work in half light but I see plenty of taxis  with just the one .I would not like to be pulled over by gards for no light and have the wrong people in the car they might see you as the cause of their distress if any .

Seen a chap working with the space saver on the front the other day.I couldn't do that shit.

I have the Prius ten years and only changed the second of my original headlight bulbs the other day.I'm fairly sure that was one of the factory bulbs and it's a 2006 car.It wasn't easy but changed it in 15 minutes. You'd need the hands of a toddler to do it faster.

You need to pull out the whole headlight unit to get at the Renault and three different drivers to open the bolts .Lad in Wheels in Palmerstown shopping center will do bulb and fitting for a tenner .

I once saw a taxi with the boot lid held down with rope .

Our local Guards wouldn't pull you over if all your lights were gone.

I would keep working. A tax driver I know, has any amount of money, drove around for 3 months with a dip gone, too tight to replace it id say.

that's incredible. how does the bulbs last so long.
i don't know if its a quirk unique to my 2012 avensis but the two headlight bulbs always blew in unison.
they either go at the exact same time or one will blow and the other will go the next day.
pain in the nuts because they were 20 quid a pop each. 40 quid each time to do the both.
bought 20 bulbs for a wunner off ebay from a chink fella about 3 year ago.
delira i was. only in the last week or so have i exhausted the supply.

Its the Driver side you could look like a motorbike to oncomming traffic if they overtake in to your path they could make you dead or you jump into a ditch.

Dunno DMG I'm mostly ever only working the day shift but if it's raining or I'm in the bus lane passing traffic I'll put on the lights. My heap only has 296000Km.I think it's still on the original front shocks too so they're soft enough. My heap wouldn't vibrate like a diesel so that might be part of the reason for them lasting so long.

I've never changed a window regulator either but I always hear others doing stuff like that.In 300000 Kilometers it's only it's second set of front pads and they'll probably see it to the scrap yard.Never changed the rear brakes either.

It will probably explode tomorrow now that I've been going on about it...

I do drive a bit like an aulwan cos I like to give the passengers a limo experience...fast if I have to but generally not.

The pads still had meat on them at 250000Km.Changed them anyway with new discs as I had the thing apart.

Basically the pads don't engage until the vehicle goes below something like 10kmph.If you slam on for some reason they'll work but most of the normal braking is done by the magnets in the motor recuperating energy back to the battery.Very clever system that gives great economy.

FFS I'm after talking a load of bollox about hybrid power train systems for nothing....See if you can get the rubber cap off so it can dry out but it will go again when you least expect it..The joys of Renault ownership.
