That has been trashed out on here before, the long and short is that the NCB protection is worth nothing, if you have an incident and a claim then your policy still goes up but your NCB is still protected.
I packed up paying NCB protection about 5 years back, Step-Back is another scam they use.

I tend to agree with Ken. I know of a few taximen who got very expensive shocks as what they call "loading" negated any perceived benefit of NCD protection. They don't disclose how loading is calculated as it's done on a "case by case basis" but it certainly seems to be adjusted to eliminate any NCD protection benefit that may otherwise have applied.

That said, I still pay it putting it down to prudence rather than lunacy. I just renewed with FBD via Taxifair and was charged €148.46 for NCD protection, total premium €1,437.20 (including Government levy and Insurance Compensation Fund of 5% which equates to €68.44) + €65 broker fee.

If it doesn't have a roof sign and door stickers it's not a taxi.

Mine is up in March, and this is the time of year when I should be switching everything from insurance to electricity, to gas.

I didn't shop around or negotiate at all, SB... just paid what they asked for... which I can only put down to lack of interest/enthusiasm. But then again, would you ask a barman or a taxi driver for a discount... I wouldn't.

... and, presumably, how to get there in the case of an immigrant taxi driver!

Yeah I just jumped over to taxifair six months ago.Nice lads to deal with and they didn't try to gouge me for the bonus protection like AXA do.Thr only reason I stayed with AXA before was the age of my vehicle.

I didn't even have to ask them to take money off, I just rang them and they took 250 off without me even asking.

it had gone up 250 euro from 2022.
