I like having the mirror as the passengers can see it easier.When I had the Primus near the gear stick you'd have people looking in over your shoulder to see the meter wasn't being tempered with.

How long do meters last anyway. Mine is nearly 20 years old Aquila T2. All it needs is a button refresh there worn down to the butt I've had to press them with a biro lately.
I don't know fer sure but my Hale microtax 05+ has a serial number ending in '07' which means it was manufactued in 2007, and the end date fer my Hale meter is Dec 31st 2025.

I Fookin hate Change !

But with that said I was forced to buy a new set of glasses recently as it took seemingly 2 weeks to Fookin replace the lens in my old glasses, so I bought a new cheap set of frames and had them put in the new prescription lens on the new glasses, when that was done I took the new glasses from them and gave them my old glasses to put new lens in, with the thought that the new glasses would be shelved or go in the bin when my old glasses were ready. I wasn't very pleasant to the optician staff dealing with me !

To my eternal shame, I loved the new glasses and shelved/binned my old glasses !
But I still Fookin hate Change !!   ::fds

Dunno Ken the mirror meters are too flash for a 2012 poojo.

Ifn I bought one it would nearly be the price of the car at this stage.

I would agree, and even Add that I don't like the Pox mirror meters.

But as time is short fer reprograming/Fare update Dec 1st/and Reseal,
I went with the Pox €620 Programmed nua Mirror meter installation tomorrow.

On a Sad but Bright note, I can claim 20% of it back in Tax credits.

<snip>

I like changing the meter often as I have no idea whether they're keeping records of work going back years.Last thing I need is to be hung out to dry by my own meter on money already spent.

If you're thinking of the taxman, I think he can only go back 7 years afaik?  Open to correction though.  I've over 15 yrs of tax receipts/submissions hanging around the house and have often thought of dumping the first half of them?

Yes Watty I've only heard rumors of Revenue meter reading but I dunno if they actually do or even have the ability or desire to do so.Having an old meter is like having a witness to a crime hanging around.I'm sure they can be wiped but ya never know.

TBH I'd be more concerned about inaccurate returns rather than underdeclaring.All my fault but it lingers in the back of yer mind.

Based on these replies on other makes of meters the Aquila T2 seems a good reliable meter. I'll probably renew the buttons on it.
