I don't really want to borrow money. I just need to convince myself that I have a business worth investing 24k in but I won't be spending it until I have to in any event. 30 hours a week should be doable, I just need to do it!

I was all set to get up at 06:30 this morning, then a fucking coil spring snapped on my way home last evening so I'll be spending tomorrow spannering provided SMF get the springs in!

Hope it's an easy fix for ya RC.

At least you already have the motivation part sorted. That's the only difference between all of us on here.I need a reason to be hungry to get off the couch.

I had to buy a white board like a real business wanker to keep track of my targets. You can borrow mine as I might not be needing it for a while now...deffo a game changer!

I'm good with targets... Particularly good at adjusting them to compensate for laziness!

Nha, I want it done properly. If the motor wasn't under the imminent threat of the scrapyard I'd probably do the shocks, top mounts and drop links while I'm at it. Given current uncertainty I mightn't even do both springs, although I did order two.

I'm very good with Major short term targets like Chrimbo or Bank holiday weekends but I'm also a Terror fer taking my foot off the gas after a target has been completed.

I had a look at that video, Octy. If I'm not mistaken they're working on a double wishbone suspension. Not using spring compressors in that case is, frankly, incompetent. It'd be akin to you hitting the accelerator instead of the brake. In any event, most VAGs (bar a few high end Audis/Porches) use McPherson Strut suspension. I have the broken side taken apart and assessed now. In addition to the coil springs Mrs. Catcher will be collecting a top mount and drop link from ECP and a nut and bolt from Annesley Williams, putting another €60-70 on the repair bill. I'm planning to leave the other side for a week or so which will facilitate ordering the extra parts from Poland. I need some engine oil and some diesel particulate filter cleaning fluid anyway so I'll probably have a big enough bill to qualify for free delivery. As I'm showered and shaved now I'll probably leave putting it back together 'till tomorrow morning.

FFS, that'd be another score.

Anywaysanall, I have all the bits now. I'm not sure I'm happy with the top mount. The two bits (mount and bearing) don't slot together as readily as the old one...but they came in the same pack as a set, box and interior bag sealed so I guess they'll probably work. New spring looks slightly taller than the old one (including the broken bit that was lodged in the wishbone) and weighs c.50g more so I'm hoping it won't cause a huge difference in ride height or handling. If it does I'll have to pay through the nose for more bits and do the other one this weekend rather than next.... aah, I'm probably overthinking it!

A good excuse not to go to work if anything. Will you do the tracking yourself? 8)

If it's pulling after both springs are replaced I'll get Collin to do it on his machine, SB. If not, I'll not bother unless it fails it's next NCTS inspection.
