Bastards.I wonder are they be being stolen for parts or to do a job. They're all fast but you wouldn't be taking a chasse with 20% battery left.

He lives in the middle of an estate hard to access .I would think probably stolen to Order .New car probably going to be exported .I have heard a lot of Ukranians DRIVING Home .Might make sense to fit a tracker to your car .If they can find your phone they must be able to find your car .

If it's a new motor it's likely it might have a location thing built in.On my BYD you can see the location of the vehicle on your mobile app like Tesla but I'm sure they'd know how to disable it.

The shit part about owning these new yokes is the parts are valuable and hard to get.I know on some KIA/Hyundai there's a hack where they can get in to the vehicle and drive it away from the OBD diagnostics port.Loads of them disappearing never to be seen again in UK and US.

I set my house alarm every night even though I've nothing to rob.Car keys go into a biscuit tin.

1. Using MG’s iSmart app (live‑tracking)
Later versions of the MG 5 EV (Mk 2) support the MG iSmart app, which lets you view your car’s live location via its built‑in 4G modem

.

Owners on the MG EVs forum confirm: the “Find My Car” feature shows live location with detailed address info, and it updates whenever you request it

.

However, the earlier MG 5 EV (Mk 1) does not have iSmart or GPS tracking built-in .

So: if you have a Mk 2 with factory iSmart connectivity, yes—you can track it using the app. If not, you’ll need aftermarket aftermarket.

Yes John deffo worth contacting MG.These cars are basically tablets wheels.GPS and wifi on the new ones and maybe even a sim card like mine has.Everything can be tracked.Teslas can even be shut down remotely.

About the grant I'd say the NTA will be sympathetic but the conditions of the grant are it can only be replaced with a newer EV while the three years grant period is in place.I dunno how for sure though.

I'd say it will turn up.The new MG5s are fairly distinctive with the new lights.I can't see the scrotes signing up for a charging account with ESB.

That's beyond scumbag - stealing a car and putting a man out of work.  Hopefully the cnuts will have an intimate meeting with an artic lorry on the N7 some night  >:D

In a perverse way, it might be better if it's gone gone.  Then the insurance company will have to give him some money for a replacement taxi and his downtime might not be too bad.  The garages don't keep Chinese spare parts in stock so if it's recovered and repairable, it could be sitting in the garage for months (literally) and he's got no money in his pocket.

Hope it all works out for your mate  :2cheers  It's kinda crazy that there's 12,000 Gardai and only 1 of those 12,000 can deal with that stolen car.

Something similar happened to me a few years back.  Went into Clontarf Garda Station to report a non-payer.  The Guard at the desk listened to my tale of woe and simply replied, I'm off-duty tomorrow.  AKA you can fukk off if you think I'm going to do something   >:D

Could be slightly different across the water.  Recently watched a BBC2 reality TV programme about English police detectives called Murder 24/7.  They had a big poster at their office door asking 'have you talked to the victims before going off duty?'  Whether they did or not is another story but I guess it's the thought that counts.

Great result. They may not have realised it was electric when they took the keys.Or maybe they just needed to get somewhere.Either way get a house alarm or start using the one you have.
