Why would a dealer use a traceable Taxi app to deliver his deals ?
I'm not a drug dealer, but if'n I was, then I sure would not be using a completely traceable Taxi app to deliver my product.
Phones are traceable regardless of how they travel. Using their own motor cars or hiring a private driver would create an easily identifiable constant whereas using taxis means they could be in any of 20,000 cars at any given time. Some (not all) have the sense to order with throwaway phones in fictitious names and they generally pay cash so knowing that someone took a taxi from A to B is of little evidential value. Other factors to consider include the fact that most have the Gardai onside up above in Dublin, drug dealing is much more overt than was the case 10 or 20 years ago and, even if they come across a checkpoint manned by hostile Gardai, being in a taxi affords them the opportunity to tuck their contraband under a seat or floor mat and deny any knowledge of it in the highly unlikely event of it being found. With media coverage of taxi driver unions protecting drug pushers' rights to drive taxis for some extra income and/or to disguise their occupations it'd be difficult to conclusively determine culpability.
